X10 update R2BA024

Last night i updated my X10 through the Sony Ericsson PC Companion software that came with the phone. Im with Vodafone.

Navigated to 'about phone' and this is the info after the update:

For those who have this update or newer, what were the updates? So far i noticed i got a backup tool, and the interface of the mediascape video player is tweaked. Was there anything else?

Appreciate it if a list of changes/updates is provided, useful for everyone. I can update the list here.

They've added a Backup and Restore function, but mainly it's a speed improvement

My phone was sim card unlocked when i bought it used. Will updating to R2BA024 cause it to become locked to one carrier again?

The battery life is supposed to be improved too...and it has ever since I did the update

No it wont. My phone was locked to vodafone on 14 - I sim unlocked it, Updated to 24 and its still ok.

Argh! Why did I just try to upgrade!

Followed the instructions to the letter and now the PC Companion application is just stuck on the Phone Software Update screen at the "2. Prepare" stage and I can't do anything.

Getting increasingly frustrated with this phone.

Edit: And now "Unable to install or start phone software update components" errors.. Argh

Hey! I have the same problem
I tried the SEUS to and It's the SAME problem!
Am I suppose to keep holding the back button even after the phone turns back on?
EDIT: Got it to update, but when I went to go check

ok realise that r2ba024 is the same as 023 and 020 it all depends on your network provider 024 is vodafones port for the branded junk they put on the phone.. to check for updates go

if it says you have the latest firmware and you are still on 014 or 016 ring your provider and go nuts then go to their forum and stir up some trouble and try and force the update out of them..
sony have done what they needed for now in my opinion the likes of voda tmobile etc should not be allowed to interfere with the handsets as they end up ruining the experience for the end user!! and making in this case sony look stupid..

and if you use the companion you may lose numbers not on sim apps basically anything on handset memory sd card is safe..

On Mediascape on the function "Get Album Art' before it was mandatory to use WiFi to get it... now they give u the option to chose between WiFi or Mobile Network


Theyve also changed how your phone connects to your pc with use of PC Companion

I updated to R2BA20 yesterday and i got the backup tool, so it's not that new.

Wasnt the new firmware supposed to impliment HD video? Or is that coming in the 2.1 OS update later this year???

To me its a big update as the backup tool is very important to me.
