Fresh 2.3.3 Released

Ok followed what u said and still have some pretty weak battery compared to before. I performed the steps and rebooted around 2:30p yesterday, with mild to heavy usage it finally died around 12:30a. So that's like 10hrs which isn't the worse. But I still want a little more out the battery

how many bar do you have for signal? remember, the fewer the bars, the more battery used. when you get down to 1-2 bars you burn through battery pretty quick since the phone is trying to boost power to get a signal.

I need help!!! I am unable to figure out how to do this procedure, no luck trying to figure this: "Pick flash zip from sdcard and select fresh-hero*.zip." Where do I found this?

have you rooted your phone yet? if not, then that's the first step. then it's a simple matter of booting into recovery (if you've rooted you'll know how to get into recovery). pick the option flash zip from sdcard.. then pick the zip file you want to flash.. these would be the files that you previously copied to the root of the sdcard.

It's not the ROM, Facebook sync for HTC Sense is broken at the moment. Everyone who's flashed a new sense-based ROM since yesterday is having the same problem. I've tried a couple of different ones, same result with each.
I hope they get this worked out soon. I like having my friends synced up that way it shows their facebook pic when they call. Thanks

All I did was download the fresh 2.3.3 file to my sd card as a zip file? Is this correct, than I would shut the phone off and press volume down and power button and after that it is unable to find the phone

I'd like to flash to this ROM I am just unclear on a few things.

I'm currently using Aps2SD and I have Titanium backup installed.

I understand that we need to do a full wipe, and if I'm reading it right we need to wipe both the phone AND the SD card, no?

So if this is the case, I'm assuming that I will need to backup all of the Titanium backup files to my computer, wipe both phone and SD card, flash, then move all Ti backup files back over to the SD card?

I was under the impression that you could brick your phone if you remove the SD card while the phone is running. Wouldn't you essentially be doing the same thing if you wipe the card while the phone is looking on the card for the programs? Or would you be in the clear by effectively doing a whipe on the phone (thus telling the system that it shouldn't look on the SD card for anything)?

if you haven't rooted your phone, holding down home and powering on or holding volume down and powering on will not do you any good. you have to be rooted first.

wipe data, dalvik, and ext from the recovery menu. no need to wipe the SD card itself. just the ext partition on it.

ok... first of all, if you have your phone the way you want it... then really there's no reason to flash Fresh 2.3.3.. Fresh 2.3.3 does add friendstream (although I find it pointless). Fresh 2.3.3 does allow you to change the lock screen to the standard vanilla one that every other android phone has.. but you have to not use the HTC clock and use the vanilla clock for alarms.. the 768 kernel you linked to isn't needed.. unless you plan on overclocking your phone (eats up battery faster and causes heat.)

as far as the steps.. you mentioned titanium backup.. you can pick and choose what to restore and what not to restore with titanium backup.. so just restore the apps you want..

what I do is, boot to recovery, make a nandroid backup. wipe data, wipe davlik and then flash the rom. once signed in, get titanium from the market and restore. All google contacts will download from google once you log in the first time.

if you then decide that Fresh isn't for you... boot into recovery and restore that nandroid backup you made right before flashing Fresh.. that will take you right back to the exact phone you had when the backup was made.
is fresh 2.3.3 rooted, or do i need to root it.
is this rom faster than the stock sprint 2.1 rom its based off of.

im trying to find a android 2.2 (froyo) rom, is 2.3.3 past 2.2, & or does 2.3.3 support this feature, any ideas.

& whats the pros/cons of having a deodex rom, does it save space or what

All custom ROM's are rooted (including Fresh 2.3.3).

Never have used official 2.1 but I would imagine that it IS faster and can be made even faster.

Android 2.2 = Froyo. Android 2.1 = Eclair. Fresh 2.3.3 is based off of Eclair. The 2.3.3 is just the build number of the ROM and is not be be confused with android's firmware version.

Performance wise, there are no issues to one or the other. Deodex is easier for developers to customize. Deodex is a little bit larger in size and the very first boot of the new ROM takes a bit longer to load.

thanks, is there any froyo roms out yet (stable), & if 2.3.3 is bigger b/c its deodex, then im not sure if i want it, b/c i dont have much space as it is.

can i install a overcocked recovery image on my 2.1 sprint rom, w/ joeys recovery rom already installed, & if so, do i have to do any wiping, etc, or can i just flash the new image?

If you use the camera magic app, the camera preview function gets fixed. I have been daily driving this ROM for like 2 weeks, and love it....It is quick, stable and tiny.
what about the issues w/ video, & 5mp cam, not 3mp.

is there any vids or screen shots on this rom, b/c i like to look of the htc sence, so id like to see what his looks like, & how can you say itas stable, if HE says its not 100% working?

thanks for everything

It is working fine for me, that is how I say it is stable. As far as the camera goes, the pictures were never great from this phone, and although it says that it only works in 3mp mode, I don't even notice a difference. There are a couple screenshots in the first post here, [ROM] Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 Test 4 For Hero CDMA - xda-developers It isn't 100%, but it is pretty cool, and hey, if you flash it and you don't like, just nandroid back.

It is aosp, so no sense, btw. But I think it is cool to try it, and see how much less lag there is without sense. If you do, just don't forget a nandroid....

i saw them, i registered. I thought they made a htc/rosie sence add on for the above rom, & how do you fix the cam/mms/facebook issues.

your right the cam does suck, but i can notice a dif from 3mp-5mp.

& can i flash a overckock kernel over this rom as well? like this one:
DarchKernel vUV 710mhz with Free Memory Tweak For Fresh 2.1.1/2.1.2/2.3.3

That kernel works great, I use it with it with no problem.

Facebook issue- not sure. Sense is soooo intertwined with facebook that if you don't have sense, you will miss all the little things. I just check mine through the browser most of the time. My contact pics synced, eventually.

The kernal is already overclocked to 710 with this ROM, and I don't think you will need any memory tweaks, as with all my apps loaded, I have about 90 mb free space (without using the native froyo a2sd). The Rom is about half the size of any other I have run so far.....

As far as the mms/and the camera issues, I have never had a problem with receiving a picture through mms, and I just use the app camera magic in the market, and it fixes the preview feature in the camera.

I believe the memory tweaks are for ram, not internal memory. Its like having autokiller, on strict, built in to the kernel.
