SWYPE Keyboard

I've checked all the forums and have only found people who are reviewing, praising or comparing the Swype Keyboard. When I got my EVO I heard great things about Swype and how Sprint was making it their official keyboard. I have read that the Samsung Epic 4g will come preloaded with Swype, however, I've yet to be able to find an APK for Swype that works. I downloaded Shapewriter when it was available and now have that which I enjoy using but I plan on swapping out my phone for the White Evo (I know its the same thing but my bf prefers the black over the white) and even with Astro File Manager backup I cannot save the APK for Shapewriter. Where did everyone get Swype from? It is not in the market and the closest thing available now is SlideIT which is 5.99 Euro 7.75 US. I attempted to download the apk via torrents but ended up with a bunch of expired trial apks. Did I completely miss the time frame for this download? Does anyone know where I can get it? And what other Keyboards have you tried? I've done reviews on all of them accept Swype and Betterkeyboard. I found swiftkey to be a good qwerty in landscape with haptic feedback since theirs a lot of space between keys, and the Evos stock keyboard has the best T9 for portrait mode, and I think I like SlideIT better than Shapewriter which I hate to type on without swiping the keys. So my two questions are:

Where do I get Swype?
and
What is your favorite keyboard?

Swype is a good keyboard replacement. It's just not something that I prefer. I seem to be more accurate with Smart Keyboard Pro. I know there is a huge bandwagon for Swype, but bandwagons have little affect on my likes/dislikes.

I tried the smart keyboard and gave it 4 stars, I like that is has space between the keys like the droid X multitouch keyboard but the haptic feedback actually works on the smart keyboard as opposed to the multi touch. I don't think I'd be willing to pay for it though since I'm pretty fond of the swipe type input keyboards.

I found uber keyboard to be plain and contributing nothing special since my stock keyboard does speech to text which is uber keyboards claim to fame.

I found Ultra Keyboard extremely hard to get use to to the point of annoying. The only upside to it was the built in translator. other than that I see no point in ever downloading it.

Swiftkey keyboard is fairly attractive and has good feedback and spacing. The noise is makes when using sound on it is beyond annoying though, not to mention louder than hell.

Tap Tap keyboard was pretty much non functioning. I'm not sure as to why it is even in the app catalog but I do know that if you want to input text then you dont want taptap keyboard.

I'm thinking of purchasing blackbolts keyboard as it seems to have a decent t9 keyboard and Id like to see how its qwerty is. Theres a lot of mixed reviews for it. Has anyone purchased this keyboard before?

May I ask what your guys' settings are on swype? Like the speed vs accuracy slider and whatnot

I put mine on the most accurate however it seems to be giving me completely different words now. I might just move it back to where it started. All I really do is shut off the sound and vibrate since it can get annoying. Otherwise it is the MUST have app for an Android

As far as Swype settings, personally I've gone with Auto Spacing on, Auto Capitalization on, Word Prediction off, Enable Tip Indicator off (just found that - I keep hitting it by mistake), Audio Feedback off, Display trace middle of slide, Word Choice Window just over middle towards Always, Speed vs. Accuracy almost all the way down to fast response (low error tolerance), Auto select word after 5 seconds (I may decrease that)

I found those settings worked well even while I was learning to Swype only with my left thumb when I bunged up my right elbow.

Hope that helps.

On a side note, as an old Palm OS fan, I installed Graffiti for Android and I enjoy using that as well for certain applications.
