Sorry for starting a new thread. But I am grieving here :(
I used a custom made case for my Cappy ever since I got the phone on 12pm on the day of release a week ago. The case is simple - a leather sleeve for glasses that I cut on top to fit the length of the phone. The sleeve is felt-like inside.
I was handling this phone like it was a baby.
And today I pull it out in bright sun and I notice a scratch on the screen. :(
I admit I let a female play with the phone for like 5 minutes, under my watchful eye. Could the scratch have been made by a female nail?

That is what I thought, and that is why I refused to apply screen protectors. I am really baffled.
Been scratching at my screen with a key(no protector on it) and so far I haven't been able to scratch it yet even though I'm really pressing hard. My screen is already cracked in some places and I'm getting it replaced, the only reason I'm actually testing it on my phone.

Can you leak some light on the capacitive sensor performance with cracked/scratched screen? I am concerned that with this scratch the touch sensitivity will decrease.

Here's some pics of what I've done to my screen by accident. Drawing around in a Paint program and there's no skipping, skewing, or any errors on the entire screen, even on the places where there are cracks and thick scratches.

Captivate supposedly has Gorilla Glass screen which is very scratch resistant. Nail definitely can not damage it. It is likely that the screen was scratched by sand that got into your case.

Wow! How did it happen?:) Did you have insurance on the phone?
Thanks for the shots! I will be extra careful with mine now! :)

There is no official info of SGS having anything close to GorillaGlass. I am in New York City, no sand around here, but everything is possible. I am thinking maybe someone scratched it with a ring on the finger.
