Getting Feedback On Hardware I Want To Make

Hey guys, I know I'm new to this forum but I wanted to ask you all a question. I bought the Motorola Multimedia Dock a while back and just recently realized how dissatisfied I was with it. The price was too high and it's just another glossy black electronic accessory.

So, I started sketching possible designs for a dock of my own and began talking to suppliers. If all goes according to plan I will produce two variants of my dock, one made out of a lighter color wood with a stainless steel base and one made out of a darker wood with a darker metal base. Having to always search for my USB cable was a pain so the dock will feature an included retractable cable that is stored in the dock when not in use.

I would like to make different docks for different phones but since I don't want to throw all my money at this I'm just going to offer a solution for the Droid to begin with.

My question to you all is this... would you be interested in a good looking dock made out of premium materials at a price in the low twenties? Obviously you would have to see it before making a buying decision but I just wanted to get some feedback first.

Thanks in advance.

I would seriously look into making a dock for a more current phone. Or at least make it compatible with the Droid X, Droid 2, Droid Pro, etc.

I have to believe that the majority of people with a Droid 1 that want a dock have already bought one. And since it's out of production, I'm not sure how large your target audience will be.

Not saying you couldn't make this a successful endeavor, but to me, making multimedia docs for the Droid 1 is akin to making buggy whips.

It's interesting, but move to the newer phones, this market is probably saturated, and the phone is being discontinued.

The ipod dock keeps selling because it's for iphones, ipods and there is only one connector for all of them in the same place

Unfortunately droids are not that way, and we have the micro usb placed wherever the manufacturer wanted to place it

For me, a dock has to be a drop-in solution. If I have to manually connect the cable then that defeats the purpose of the dock IMO.

Of course it will have the micro USB connector that it sits on in the tray of the dock. I was saying that on the back of it will be a standard size USB cable that can be pulled out when you want to connect it to your computer or AC plug. When it's not connected it retracts back into the case.

What's a Droid Pro?

Anyway, I'd like to look into it if you make one and put some pictures up and here some pricing! I have a Droid 1 and am DEFINITELY interested!
