Fix for those having Facebook fot HTC Sense problems

Hey,

I in no way take credit for this, but I haven't seen this posted in this forum...I found this in the xda forums, and it works!

For anyone having problems syncing to Facebook for HTC Sense:

1)Go to your facebook profile on your computer browser

2)Got to Info, then Edit profile

3)Go to Education And Work

4)Under employer: I changed both position and city/town to include whatever city you are currently in. If you have multiple employers (past and present), change those too

5)Go to your Incredible, settings, accounts & sync, Facebook for HTC sense, sign in & it should work..

Again, I take no credit for the find...just noticed that it hasn;t been posted here yet...and I can confirm that it works.

Basically (and this goes for whether or not you rooted or what ROM you had)...if, for whatever reason, in Accounts and Settings, did not have Facebook for HTC Sense already installed & synced (let's say you wiped your phone for example and needed to set up your accounts again)...it would not let you enter the account (it gives an error message)...
those people who have had there accounts already set up most likely wouldn't notice it.

There have been many posts throughout the forum detaling the problem...

Connection error when trying to refresh Friends list in People app. Still no friends showing up.

This does at least get rid of the looping error about being unable to log in to Facebook however.

I just cant sync my contacts, otherwise FB works fine for me mostly, this didnt seem to help, hope it can help others with worse Facebook problems.

also make sure you just change all the locations to match. and use the facebook suggestions for the locations.

Agreed...play around with it...I got mine to work, so I know it's do-able. Try changing around the locations & positions...try different combos, like Matt said, try the auto-suggestions, etc...it took me a couple mins of playing around to get it to work..

On a related note, not all of my facebook friends are showing up in the people app...I'm assuming its because this is a workaround & not a true fix...HTC for Facebook is still a little messed up...but this is better than not working at all...so I'll take it...

OK this fix worked with my wife's phone, getting it to set up an account. It doesn't solve the problem of syncing contacts and pictures. If anyone gets a fix for that, let me know.

you can download app from the market called SyncMyPix and get profile pictures from facebook. it is just a temproary fix until the facebook issue is resolved but you can at least have pictures for your contacts in the meantime...

This is a PITA to do but at least it works. Thanks again. This forum is AWESOME.
