Help Lil' help please

Hello all,

I need a little help with my X... I have had it for a couple of days now and it is a great phone, but I was a crackberry toter for so long I am stuck in the ways of RIM. Two things that are driving me a bit nuts: After I set my custom ringtone (I've gone through settings, and done it by long holding the MP3) my phone seems to revert to it's stock ringer, secondly for setting a wallpaper pic I had a pic I took on my Storm2 that I like of the wifey and daughter. I have edited the pic down to the pixel dimension that was recommended to me on another board, but it still superzooms on the photo. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA.

Regarding the second issue, your wallpaper, when you choose which photo on your phone you would like to set as your wallpaper, you should be given a screen showing just the photo and a border or box that dictates the aspect ratio. In order to crop the photo to the desired size, you'll want to press and hold one of the sides of the border and stretch the highlighted border to the desired length and size.

Honestly, I don't miss my BB Storm (first BB and Smartphone for me), except for the ability to delete email from both my handset and account with one click.

for the wallpaper, don't worry about editing it on your computer first. just use the original file. if it needs to be trimmed you can do that on the phone when you set it as a wallpaper. what are you setting the ringtone for. you can go thru the menu and set universal ringtones and notifications, but if you have something set as a notification or ringer inside an app (lets say for gmail), that will override what you have in the system setttings.

I only edited on the phone through the advanced features. I just cannot figure out why it zooms in so far it makes it virtually unrecognizable. As for the ringtone I have tried going through the settings and it works for a while then reverts, and I tried the other way with the same results... lemon of some type?

i wouldn't even use the advanced features. It will ask you to crop the original file when you select it to use as a wallpaper. I'm not sure about the ringtones then. I go into each individual app and set my ringtones and just leave my system ringers/notifications on default.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong because at first I just used the orange box you stretch out and I get the same weird results either way. Might try editing on the PC and then reload.

you do know that when you put a picture as a wallpaper on an android phone, it will zoom in some, simply because it covers more than one screen. Like with a storm you just have the one home screen so you can see the whole picture on one screen. With android the picture slides to the left or right. You might try using Launcher pro and set it to a static home screen. That might help

Yeah as I was playing with I realized that could be the issue. I didn't care for LP, but I didn't invest much time in it either. Thanks for your suggestions.
