So when I looked into my battery activity I have seen that android system is taking 30%+ of my battery today. I didnt think much of it untill I had seen some other posts and it says most of the activity was in idle. My idle only accounts for about 10% of my battery. Does it mean that my phone is not idling. I have app killer pro. I dont have background data... i know the settings deal so dont link me to a tips and tricks to get better battery life out of my evo. That ISNT what im asking.

Is it normal for adroid system to take up most of my battery.
If no then what can I do to correct the problem. What steps do i need to take.

No my phone is not rooted.
I let the battery die tonight and tomm. i will try to use my phone as little as possible and not dl anything from market or play games etc. and repost with my results.

thanks in advance

It could be an app that just won't quit, but not necessarily. The thing is, the uptime vs awake time, the % of battery use, and such only give you relative information, but don't tell the whole story. You could have some really power hungry things going when your phone isn't idling. If you are letting your phone sit for most of the day and only doing basic tasks (text/email/market/etc) and the system is still a high percentage, then you may have something going on. Are you getting good battery life? If so, then I wouldn't sweat over it too much. I was a victim of all of the talk about battery life/usage and spent a good week monitoring and promptly closing everything. Then I realized that if you have good apps and are reasonable in how you use and close (closing vs "killing) certain apps, the battery will be just fine. It is much less stressful just using your phone instead of sweating over the small stuff.

I'm sure you will get a better and more concise answer, but that is about the best answer I can give you.

Though I'm not sure how much an app could possibly weigh....;)

If you use the standard measurement scale .076gm, if you use Apple's algorithm, 17kg.

so my phone now is 40%!!!! cell stand by..... that means 40% of the battery is spent on looking for signal. and when i switch it from automatic to sprint only i get horrible reception....... i dont like airplane mode because too many messages/calls dont come in.

can anyone else from miami/fl or south florida in general concur?

Well I'm not in Miami, but I am about 20 minutes north of Ft Lauderdale, and my service is great. 5/6 bars most of the time. Yes I know bars doesn't mean anything, just giving an idea. Only place it sucks is when I'm at work. Big building, big metal roof. That could be because of the sprint spectrum being at a high frequency? Just my .2

what does ur battery percentage look like?

Well I was off today, so I cant give you an accurate reading. But as for now:

9H 34m Since Unplugged, with 2 battery bars gone. I wish I can post screenshots, but i'm not rooted..

Up time: 396:23
Awake Time: 187:38

Cell Standby: 25%
Wifi: 23%(switched on all day)
Phone Idle: 23%
Maps: 14%
Android System: 11%
Display: 4%

Other than that, my battery lasts all day easily. Love Advanced Task Killer.

25% of ur battery spent LOOKING for a signal when ur off.... not even in the building where signal is bad.. sigh... so ull b around 40% at work. Thats my problem. in college singal sucks... same at work... meh mayb if sprint didnt have such spotty coverage our batterys would last about 20% longer. oww and u can take screen shots with SDK.

Noooo, time without a signal was 3%. Click on cell standby and it'll give you a % of without a signal.
