I'm wondering how everyone's experience with the battery life is going.

Mine is pretty disappointing so far. The phone can't last a day. I'm not playing music, browsing the web, using navigation, etc. I'm just using more of the basic features like text and email. And I also have the screen really dim.

How about everyone else?

If my situation sounds odd, any ideas on why my phone is draining so fast?

I'm pretty satisfied with my battery life. It lasts the entire day. How often is your email set to update? Mine is set to update hourly, I can imagine having it set to anything faster than this can impede the battery. With your usage, you should definitely be lasting the entire day. I limit the usage of widgets (ones that automatically update), disable all automatic updating (except email), and I use a task killer (be careful of this, I would do research before starting to use these). I also disabled haptic feedback (only very slightly helps), disabled window animations, and set my screen timeout to 15 seconds (annoying sometimes, I might change this). Oh, and set my screen brightness (and the browser's screen brightness) to as low as it will go.

Thanks for the info. I thought about the widgets so I removed all but one. I kept the Fancy Widget but I have it update only every three hours.

I use gmail for my syncing. It syncs my contacts, calender, and email. I believe it's not on a schedule and email is pushed to the phone. I'll look into this. You made me realize that this could be a problem because when I'm sending emails all day on my PC, it has to sync after every email. I'm going to see if there's a way to push just the inbox and fetch the others.

What's the build date on your battery? (Look on the front of the battery under the back cover).

Seems like people with batteries made in end of July are much better and that most of the people with abysmal battery life are running early-mid June batteries.

July 8. Anyone have a battery with a newer build date that's working better than this?

I came from an iPhone 3G and it's sad that my 1.5 year old iPhone would run for two days and this phone can't last a full day. I'm hoping i Have a bad battery.

What do you mean by extremely well? Hours/days?

Keep in mind this is a _very_ casual estimate, but as an example: I pulled the phone off the charger yesterday mid afternoon, fooled around with some new apps, email/notifications running, browsed on and off for a couple of hours, fiddled with the new 4.4 Google maps (invoking the GPS), left it on all night, and used it this morning till about 11a with 1/3 battery being displayed.

However, I've got all sorts of things in place, that I would need to cross check like battery managers, etc.

I'll get a better estimate.

Sounds a lot better than I'm doing. Thanks for all of the help guys.

If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me what the build date on your battery is (referencing the post from baddress, above).

Have to agree with your assessment, exactly what I'm doing and can't go from 6am to 7pm without it going dead.

Mine is doing alot better today. Turned the brightness to auto, and set my wifi sleep policy to never. I have wifi on, but I'm not able to browse any webpages (whoooole nother issue there), but I've gained about 2 hours of life. At noon yesterday, I was down to 68%, and didn't do anything on the phone. Today I was down to 67% at 2:20pm, and I was steaming pandora for probably close to an hour I'd say (over wifi).

All in all, lowering the brightness and using wifi are 2 main contenders in saving battery life

I've posted this in a couple other threads already, but I went a full weekend without my charger and still came home with 36% battery on Sunday night. I used it only for texting and checking emails on Saturday. Sunday I did the same, along with a half dozen phone calls in the morning, now that I think about it I took my first 3 pictures that day too, sent 1 of them in an email and another in a text, then made another phone call on my way home.

Basically I went 39 hours with "normal" use and came home with 36% in reserve, the only thing I did out of the ordinary for me was turn it off when I went to bed Saturday night and turned it back on Sunday morning.

Battery Date : 2010.06.21

i have been happy with battey use, found that the display seems to eat more than anything else for me ( according to the graph under settings, about phone, battery usage) about killed the battery first full day i used it, but i also had set the display to stay on for 10 mins at a time, from i think 30 seconds. usually about an hr of calls during the week, have not gotten around to heavly customising yet but ive only had the phone 4 days now

and i do have a july battery.

I have my wifi and bluetooth on all day. I did use APNDroid to turn off my data connection recently. With what I'd call very mild use, about 10 minutes of phone calls and installing 3-4 different apps and playing with the phone for about 1-2 hours, at the end of day I was down about 10% on the battery. Right now I'm a very light phone user so one of these days I'll see how long this battery can run till it dies.

just LauncherPro.

right now my battery is at 65% I have been using it since 8:57am. Ive been texting people all day, I installed 2 or 3 apps, searched for a couple more, had 3 incoming calls, made two outgoing calls, I played around with the arrangement of apps and widgets on my home screens, and played around with the keyboards earlier.

This thing should more than get me through a day when Im at work, maybe even two days.
