Froyo on Hero!

if it's RC1 (aka willeaturcat) protected apps don't show unless you replace the build.prop

Yes, I am using RC1. And I also replaced build.prop. Rebooted and still can't see it.

I unzipped, installed the APKs, activated it, long press input field, select input type, HTC IME, and the keyboard never pops up.

Edit: Thanks to guys at XDA, apparently 2.2 doesnt work with 2.2, you must use the 1.5 version for it to work with this ROM.

Here's a black one that I made at gimpsta. There are tons of modifications you can make there if you want to make your own, I prefer the straight black to go with BlackMod 2.2. Just make sure you use v27 low res and 1.5 NOT 1.6+ or high res, they will not work, I've tried.

Unzip, place on root of sd card , and install using Astro or another file manager program.
Then activate it in settings/Language & Keyboard, then long press on any text box and click "input method" then click HTC_IME mod.

Where can you download test 4? I've used RC0 and 1 and found test 4 to be much more stable and fast. The thread over froyo on xda was moved and now the only download I can find is for RC1.

Hulu loads up but says you need to download 10.xx (forget) to continue. Clicking download takes you to adobe site, not sure if downloading will do anything.

yes no preview. there are other issues with it though if you try to use the features...ie it'll freeze.

i do have an issue now with the charge indicator light staying on yellow after my charger is unplugged. oh well. it's still not a final version. pretty darn cool.

yeah the LED has been an issue from the start..rebooting clears it as does getting a text message or email. even then it doesn't happen all the time.

So I simply put the .zip on the /sdcard, reboot recovery then load from the zip? I'm on cyanogen rc1

its not really rc1... but yes.. place in root of sd card.. boot into recovery.. wipe data and dalvik then flash just like any rom.. no need to wipe if you're already running froyo

i have a sprint hero. rooted and flashed every version of 2.2 cm6 v1 thru aug1 and even darchdroid 2.7.i have wiped each time and the problem that i have is i cant receive text messages.i can send,but dont receive.please help!!school starts tommrow and i keep up with my kids via text messages.flashed back to fresh 2.3.3 and all is well.mahalo.

My recommendation would be to stay with 2.3.3. It works, and works well. 2.2, at best, is a very early "Alpha" product, hacked and hewed to make it kinda work on the Hero. If you need something reliable, just stay with 2.3.3

Copy old nandroids to your PC, delete off the card. Delete the ZIP files of previous ROMs, delete some music or anything really while you temporarily make a nandroid, copy that nandroid to the PC and move your files back.

Loaded up Froyo yesterday & loved the speed. Today? Not so much. I keep getting continuous voice mail notifications, of the introductory message, even though it's been deleted now, I seem to be unable to roam at all, b/c I've got no service in a spot where I usually roam & get service just fine, & I took my phone off the battery this morning, at 7, on my way to the office & it was dead by 1 o'clock this afternoon. I'm at work, so I've used it no more than I usually do. I do wonder though, b/c my e-mail is set on "push", which I've never seen before, if it's really just continuously searching for e-mails instead of searching every 30 minutes like I normally have it set to do.

Which version of Froyo are most people using? I used the FroYo 2.2, & while I'm not a fan of the blue, I like enough features of it, especially how fast my keyboard flies, & the difference in some of the notifications, but the problem areas are too much for me to get the kind of production I need out of it. Is there another version from Darchstar that people are using or is this the main one?

I had your same issue. What's cool about this Rom is that you can force roam. U need to go Into ur wireless settings and manually select auto or roam or home. By default it is home only.
