Google is doing something cool again...

I signed up yesterday. I just hope the wait is not as long as a Google Voice invitation! I have the Android SDK running on my laptop and I've built some things and been through all of the tutorials. Nothing good enough for the market mind you. I do more .NET(VB mostly, c# a little because I've never fully learned a c based language) and T-SQL (well, I'm a database developer by profession) than Java stuff. However, I've been learning Java over the past year and I am personally stoked about this one out of the lab.

True. I'm not looking to put ANYTHING on the market. I'm not that good, and I would have to spend a fair about of time doing junior development work to feel proud of anything. I build databases and all things declarative (SQL is still the Isle of Codd IMHO), and administer them..lol. I program to the extent I need to when it come to a data access layer for the developer and then I have it reviewed by said developers as they always run their database stuff by me and vice-versa. The programs I would be building would be personal etc. There are some things I'd like to program for myself and if a glimmer of a decent idea came out of it I would promptly go to the SDK and try to get some real work done (with help of course)...

Well, you will download and try it and if it sucks, rate it low. Others will hopefully follow suit. After a while, it'll have one star and no one will download.

There needs to be a rule that if an app averages under two stars for over 30 days, it dies.

The problem there is that sometimes people rate it 1 star because it doesnt work for their phone. Look at the app "Droid light". There are a ton of comments and 1 star ratings there because people with incredibles, eris', evos, etc. Didnt read the description where it clearly states that its only for Motorola phones.

So, while the app may be great, it may get rated down into oblivion due to ignorant people.
