Help Finally my phone works like it should!

My Samsung Moment has had serious issues (all of which I confirmed wasn't just my particular phone after reading all these similar posts and having it replaced once.) It would get seriously hot, the battery lasted 2-3 hours if I was lucky, it dialed random numbers, opened random apps (by itself!), lost internet and even phone signal, would put itself in mute or airplane mode randomly, you name it...it did it. Last week it "mini bricked" itself for an hour (stuck on samsung splash boot screen)...of course this hour was the one time I desperately needed it to work for various reasons.

Took it to the Sprint store and big surprise, they found nothing wrong with it. The guy just happened to have a Moment himself and had me download ATK (Advanced Task Killer).

Immediately every issue was gone! I went from ready to drop kick this @#$$@!! phone off a cliff to being in love with it all over again. I'm sure there are other task killers in Market that might do the same thing, but this one worked for me.

I hope this helps everyone else having all of the frustrating issues this model can have.
:D

Hmmm... A couple months ago I went to a Sprint Technical Center and complained about how my battery was so hot to the touch amongst other things. My phone was only 4 months old at the time. They took my phone and tested it and immediately said that my battery was shot and ordered me a new one. In the midst of this they told me that Advanced Task Killer needs to go because it was killing my battery/phone by doing file swapping and so on...

They told me with 2.1 that Advanced Task Killer is a no-no and showed me a email that was sent around that Android doesn't need a Task Killer (which has been discussed in depth). I uninstalled ATK and haven't looked back. My phone was running great after and still is (I'm rooted now) I guess they blamed my battery issue with ATK?

They told me that Advanced Task Manager is better. I currently run neither. Just thought it was interesting they told you to download that. Each to their own I suppose. =)

I've read both sides of the argument and can understand why people feel the way they do aboyt task killers, but about every 3 days I'll pick up my phone and feel the battery getting hot and hit the ATK widget and feel it cool off right in my hands. Regardless of what the pro's at the store say or even the pro's around here, that tells me that task killers work and are needed. The battery only gets hot when there's a heavy draw on it, and a heavy draw (especially an un-needed one) just eats up the battery.

For one thing, don't believe anything a tech at Sprint tells you. Every one of them will tell you something different. The only way ATK could do anything to your battery, is if you leave it running. Kill it along with any third party apps and you'll never have any problems. Apps that start themselves up after ATK has killed them might as well go on the ignore list.

I tried my phone with it (hence read above) and without it and I feel as my phone is so much better without it but that is my opinion. Now on the otherhand, my hubby has it installed right now on his hero.

I originally took it in for the battery and they told me that along with the battery that I had a huge problem with ATK swapping files (I don't know all that jib jab) which was over working my phone hence the hot battery and random phone reboots during phone calls... I don't know if they could have physically tested that?! It made sense to me but hey I'm not a tech.

I am positive that ATK wasn't running the whole time. It would kill itself along with the other stuff when I'd press the little widget and I only had things I didn't want killed on ignore.

I ended up with a new battery and a couple days later I ended up with a new replacement phone. =) It's a never ending debate and I guess it's whatever works for the user. Just telling you my experience with the good ol' sprint techies.

It sounds like he totally fed you a line of crap. ATK doesn't have the capability to swap anything. All it does is terminate tapplications that are running. The fact that you had to get a new phone a few days later tells me that the guy saw you had a problem and didn't know what the hell was causing it, and just looked for something non-sprint to blame it on and there was ATK staring him in the face.
