I'm weak. My impatience is making the EVO look better

I really want to hold out for the Epic. I really do. But my impatience is getting the better of me, and then I read that the screen on the Epic isn't great for a lot of text reading, which is what I'm going to be doing mostly with it, as a work phone (email, mostly).

I can get an Evo like, tomorrow. We still don't even know when the Epic is coming out. Even assuming its less than 30 days, if I switch to the Epic in my first 30, and I don't like it, I can't switch back.

Arrgh. What's a man to do in this age of instant gratification??

If you're impatient - which obviously yo (and most of us probably) are, and can actually get an EVO - give it a shot.

I can't get an upgrade until the moddle of August - and haven;t even heard of anywhere to get an EVO - EVON if I did want one.

I'm waiting for the EPIC - and the physical keyboard.

Where are you able to get an Evo tomorrow? I have the white one from Best Buy but would love to exchange for a black. Or potentially exchange for an Epic in a few weeks.

I order for a company, so I'm able to get stuff directly from the factory. So I think the longest wait we've had on an Evo is 2 days. What makes this worse is that I have folks ordering the Evo left and right.

So of course I'm sitting here, setting up people's ActiveSync's in Evos once, twice, three times a day. And sighing wishing my Android phone was available. =)

I don't have the link - but several have said that it has screen-door effect. Basically, you can see pixels.

It's fine for text while zoomed in but the complaints are regarding text when zoomed out and the characters are smaller. It can appear very grainy apparently.

We know how you feel. Yes the EVO is big...Yes the EVO will be getting FROYO....Yes you can get it now...But you have to ask yourself this....what do you want more? Do you want the big screen? Will a 4" super amoroild screen work for you? Does having a full querty 5 row keyboard put a smile on your face? Would you rather have a dragon or a humming bird?

These are the questions....If you want a phone for just emails...any phone will do. I do like how the htc has the email in an envelop and the pics are like a stack of pics...but I say this...get the EVO...have fun with it...


This is said so there will be 1 less for a shortage of Epics. I mean um...you will like the EVO...Don't worry about the Epic....using Jedi mind trick "you want the Evo and not the Epic...too many E's...we understand"

Actually Sprint just made it official. Froyo will be available for the EVO on tuesday 8/3

Maybe they'll go crazy and give us a date for the Epic before then, I gotta say I'm a little anxious now...

First I waited close to 3 and a half months reading up and watching Evo (Supersonic) videos and rumors, got the phone and discovered all it's problems returned it and now I'm back at square one been over a month yet again with my aging Moment and it's data lockups only now it's worse because I've already experienced how awesome it is to have a big screen, fast processor etc... and now my phone is having lock ups and back to a smaller screen. Back to square one, not sure how much more I can take. Hurry up Sprint!

evo video = garbage . . at least on mine .. FM radio was a disappointment lol ... lack of physical keyboard = to slow to do what i was trying to as onscreen keyboard didnt always register inputs & swype made me keep it 29 days ... main reason i liked it was the speed altho at times it froze up . . and the eye candy .... everyyyyy1 had to know what device i had lol

Best of luck. I'm sure there are MANY others doing the same. Sprint/Samsung are really dropping the ball on this.

The Optomist in me says that Sprint and Samsung want to release the phone with Froyo. The Pessimist says - it's just the way Sprint does business. I'm OFFICIAL for an upgrade on 9/1. Can get it 14 days earlier - if I go through Telesales. I really want to get it at best Buy - so - an early-September date would suite me just fine.

Every website has basically confirmed this phone will be coming out in August and Aug. 20 is looking like the true release date.

Sprint will announce the release date soon (Engadget hinting towards Aug 4)

If you really cant wait though than go ahead and buy the Evo. People have been anxiously waiting for this phone for months and now that we are in the month of release they cant wait another 3 weeks??

I went ahead and got the Evo, hoping that the Epic will be out in less than 30 days. Luckily the 30 day return policy starts when you activate the phone, and I haven't even gotten my Evo yet. I can't imagine it being released beyond the first week of September so I should be good.

Well when I upgraded my iphone 3g to os4, it was pretty much unbearable. Coupled with near crap service in my home area I went out to get a new phone asap.

I didn't know the epic was coming out until 2 weeks into my 30days with my evo and am looking forward to the Epic. Hopefully it works out that launch is within my 30day exch. period.

As far as the evo, if you can do without the keyboard i'd say get the evo. Mflops/3d gaming aren't my thing (at least on mobile) so those benchmarks and numbers don't necessarily mean much to me, let alone effect my everyday experience. Both will be peppy android devices and can make calls. It's easy to get caught up in all these benchmarks and begin thinking you got the raw end of the deal!
