I knwo it goes with electrical purchases (or most things in general really!) you buy, you get very OTT about for around five minutes, find some annoying problems and then soon enough your new shiny object becomes just another bit of kit that you have about the place.

However, I've had my Streak for a month now and... I'm still waiting.
I still think it's the best thing since sliced bread, I still find that 5inch screen fabulous for reading books! I'm still annoying all my friends with cries of "my new phone-thing! Look! Look!"

Am I alone in this? How you finding your streak after the intial gloss rubs off?

PS Appologies to all people who are still waiting to get theirs! Dell are loopy!

I have had mine for almost 3 weeks now and I have to say, my original concern about the phone being too big has vanished. While I had friends over they were using their iPhones and when I used their phones the screen just seems far too small. I could have sworn iPhones were bigger, they seem to have some kind of glitch that makes them shrink :D. I have had a couple of minor issues with the streak but overall it is a very good phone and will be even better with android 2.2.

@pooey, Rhysd2, and martinio1: Are either of you having the problem with answering a phone call that some other have posted? ie, screen goes blank, and trying to answer creates a missed call situation?

Thanks!

The only time this happes is if I pick up the phone in such a way that I cover the proximity sensor.

It's a bit silly that the sensor enables when the phone rings and not just after the call is answered.

I totally love it, had it for just over a month now, and I work with top end phones and gadgets 5 days a week, 9 hours a day. So I can get bored pretty quickly.

I use a Samsung Wave as my primary smartphone because its got an awesome battery life, awesome call quality and the music player is totally superb, the sound is just mind blowing.

For everything else, e.g. watching videos on the go, browsing the net when I'm out an about (or even at home if I'm feeling real lazy and just wanna kick back and watch a movie or something) Its just almost perfect. Come Froyo, and I think it will be as close to perfection as anything to come out in the next 6 months or so.

[Off Topic]How do you like Bada? Is it quick? Many apps for it?[/]

Anyone feel like a fool when they put the Streak to their head? Anyone with small hands having difficulty using it as a phone with one hand?

I just noticed a little security issue with my Streak.

Because the screen's so shiny I leave fingerprints all over it....... And a really nice clear "Join the dots" type mark from when I unlock it !!

I think if I didn't clean the screen whenever I put it down then anyone who knew what they were looking at would be into it on their first attempt.

As I said, Not a big security issue, But maybe something to think about if you often leave it unattended on your desk at work.

You're right, and actually it is a big issue in the work place (as is anything that reduces the number of combinations to a lock). Security on Android is p*55 poor compared to most other mobile OS, and the pattern 'streak' is one of the reasons why (as well as ability to root for full file system access, inability to enforce Exchange security policies, and the lack of hardware encryption support). That's why Android phones are still regarded as "toys" (even with Google's attempts to address this in 2.2) and so far have gained little acceptance in the enterprise world.

I bought my Streak on Ebay Friday night for $500 and it arrived this morning! It was a brand new unlocked UK unit and I am using it on T-Mobile. It only gets Edge but it is not that bad, also I am usually near a wifi connection anyway.

I just sold my Vibrant on Ebay and I have to say I was worried about going back to 1.6 from 2.1 but it is no to bad. I installed ADW so now my home screen works in portrait. You do have to play with some of the icon settings in ADW but I read the designer updated it to work on the Streak.

I also downloaded Handcent sms and a couple of other programs. The only things that really bug me are the contacts and dialer....YUCK!!!! But I will figure out a way to fix them until the 2.1 update comes out around September.

Overall I think I like the Streak, I LOVE THE SCREEN SIZE!!!!! I will post a review if anyone wants me to.

I have had my Streak for a month.....and yep still loving it. The only niggle for me is the speaker, I had a nokia N95 and the speakers on that thing blows this one away. I can't wait for the 2.2 OS to hit.

I am having trouble though, with games and App's. A lot of them i download dont fit the screen properly and a lot of games i can't use because of the movement factors and the interactive side. Also i am still seeking for a media converter that rips to 800x400 so as to get the most out of the screen that the Streak has. I am having to resort to the PSP conversion tools.

And another Bug Bear i have is that people are still comparing this unit to an iPad, For goodness sake people the Streak is a Phone, the iPad is a laptop without a Lid. Two completely different units. I have an iPad, its very useful............they are great for using as a tablemat for my dinner plate. and when i have eaten i can then use it as tablet to rest my Streak on..........lol

I went from the Samsung Captivate. This phone is 10X faster! It's hard to believe because this has 1.6 and the Captivate has 2.1. Reasons I switched:

-GPS wasn't working on Captivate
-There were lag issues
-Wasn't big on the Samsung UI

This phone's GPS seems to be working good, I have had zero lag issues with it, and the UI is pretty nice. I have had a problem with a couple of apps with 1.6, but no deal breakers by any means.

The screen is a monster on this thing! I'm very satisfied with this unit so far.

The only thing I'm a little worried about with my streak is the data/power plug.
I had a HTC Alpine that I used with Tom Tom and an external GPS dongle for about 3 years, But in the end I had to replace it because the socket in the bottom of the Alpine "Wore out". I had the socket replaced but it only lasted for 3 to 4 months till the socket actually broke free so I gave up on it.
Within them three years I did upgrade to a HTC Diamond pro (Getting old now, But still a bloody good PDA phone for texting and emailing on the move), But the screen on that is just too small to use as a GPS, So, I went and bought another Alpine (New old stock that I won on ebay for 36 quid so it was still cheaper than getting a stand alone GPS unit....... And it's got solitaire for when you get stuck in traffic jams !!! :D).
Trouble is that every time I plug in my streak now I get flash backs to the agro my first Alpine gave me.
I hope I'm just being paranoid but I can't help thinking that one day I'm going to plug it in and discover that it's not charging and I have no quick way to copy all my stuff off it before it runs flat.

Have the streak for two days, never having used a android system I was a bit nervous at first, but I am finding it very easy to use (YouTube videos to the rescue again) .
Loaded up all my kindle books and the screen is a blessing compared to the iphone 4G, and much easier to hold than I ipad.
Sold both my iphone and ipad on craigslist this weekend. but if a 7inch ipad comes out I would still jump on it in a second.
Took some nice photos at a outreach event this weekend and the photos and camera interface are very nice.
Not a big phone user but when wife called I didn
