EVO 4G's Android 2.2 update starts trickling out July 30 (official OTA August 3rd)

UPDATE FROM ENGADGET...Sprint has made it official now:

"Update: It's been made official! Notifications will go out starting August 3, but Sprint's doing something extremely cool by allowing eager users to opt-in early and grab the download at their choosing. Follow the break for the full press release."

Just spotted this, can't wait. Will need to make sure I'm near WiFi or in 4G area around 1 pm tomorrow...

For those who just can't wait to get Android 2.2, there will be an easy user initiated option to download the upgrade. Customers can access the software update through their HTC EVO 4G under the Settings Menu System Updates HTC Software Update. This will initiate the three-step process also.

So finally sprint said is coming the latest 8/03/10 i'm really impressed and like this a lot, i know a lot of people is going to start making threads about the update and i decided to make this one that way we don't have to get another one every 1/2 hour when people starts getting froyo, so i ma wait to see if i'll get it tomorrow(or tonite lol) hopefully and i'll update anyone else feel free to post and good luck with your superphone, please explain the widgets and sense responsiveness hopefully we get some good answer...

Facekl posted it first. There are other threads that said it was probably coming really soon but it just became official from sprint.

Sprint should add froyo to their "first everything" commercial as a rocket smashes onto a cup of froyo... This is epic and love how they didn't let us know. What a great surprise, Sprint rocks!

I agree, but can see the point - unchecked the whole first page would fill up and there'd be no room for people with other issues to get attention.

Besides - technically, we had a froyo in july thread weeks ago, so this is just a follow-on.

Facekl posts a lot of helpful stuff, I'm sure he's the kind of guy more interested in helping that being an attention princess.

This thread might be confusing for some people. The title says it comes out tomorrow when it actually comes out tuesday, august 3rd. The mods moved a bunch of peoples' threads into here and now its just a jumbled mess.

Alright I'll clear it up before this thread goes off-topic.

The threads were merged because they're the same thing. The August 3rd as the official rollout should've been posted in this thread to begin with so I merged it before we had two separate huge threads. I'll update the thread to make it more understandable.
