Root I know I'll get flamed but here goes. I call BS on the 2.2 leak

Let me first qualify myself by stating I DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT SHIT when it comes to ROMs. This is my first smartphone. I have asked around about this leaked 2.2 ROM and have not gotten an answer. WHERE'S THE ORIGINAL LEAK BEFORE THE ROOTED ROM? I have a hard time believing this is an official rom that got leaked with this many problems. It looks like a lot of the fixes for this rom involve fooling the phone into thinking it's an N1. Sound a little strange to anyone else?

Does it sound strange?

No. This is a leak of a test build. Its not meant for public consumption, hence the problems. It was compiled a month ago, and that is old in terms of beta releases. There is almost guaranteed to be better releases out there that have not been leaked.

i won't flame ya, but thats a pretty uninformed response. You can't call BS on something that is real and available to see.

OK. I'll buy that answer. It's the first one I've gotten so far. But if this is meant for the Incredible, why so many fixes involving the N1? I've never heard of Ford having a prototype that needs Chevy parts to operate properly. Just trying to understand that's all.

The N1 fixes you are seeing are mostly to Google apps. For instance, the Gmail fix. Why use N1? Well because its the only one with Froyo who would have a spare Froyo ready Gmail app to acquire.

The fingerprint fix, same idea. Nexus One is the only one that has froyo, and so they are the only phone that has a working market fingerprint.

The audio fix isn't really N1 specific.

highly doubtful, a forum full of noobs is not the best way to test things

The initial leak was not on this forum and that is not how planned leaks work. I love this forum but am not pretending that it is the most technical one out there, so please don't flatter yourself with comments straight out the Rocket Science manual

Having said that, I do agree with adrynalyne's input. Someone just couldn't resist sharing a month old beta and now it is on several hundreds/thousands of Inc. HTC sure would be getting an idea on at least a few bugs however.

A member of unrEVOked posted on xda that 100% of Engineering bootloaders are leaks (was a widely accepted viewpoint anyways). Chances of bricks during radio, bootloaders etc updates are there regardless and no one is dumb to not understand this fact. Things do go wrong during the execution part as it happened with one xda member pulling his battery and that thread was quickly made into a sticky to help thousands of other users. You would think leaks would not happen if HTC knew that "noobs" are bricking phones. They are not the target audience.

Blackberry does it, they leak os all the time to crackberry and have them test it. Its free testing and they get all the feedback they want. Im new to android, not sure they would do this, but...
again no blackberry doesnt, same rule applies. RIM might have people that browse the boards every so often but they DO NOT consider crackberry "testing grounds" in any way.

It's definitely real, there quite a few of us who have the actual leaked ota. It won't be leaked for a few reasons. It removes root and blocks all current root methods. Hopefully we'll be able to flash radios in clockworkmod soon, then we won't have to mess around with flashing back to stock and applying the official ota.

Probably closer to using Camaro parts on a Trans Am! :D

The thing that got me is that I had been waiting to mess with my phone. The original post for this ROM stated that "Everything Works"... That was BS... The ROM was full of bugs... Had it stated that there were bugs, I would not have messed with it.. By the time I went back to report all the bugs I had found in the first 10 minutes, the title was changed to "A few bugs.."

Thats because the original poster who posted it apparently does not use all of the phone features. Everything Working is a HUGE statement, and not one to make without knowing 100% for sure. I fixed most of the bugs myself and released a rom on that, but make no mistake, I make no claims to bugfree.

Yeah, I should know better than believe what I read on the internet huh?:D
