here is my delima..

suppose that person A makes $13/hr and person B makes $20/hr. Understand that it would take person A ~ 7.6923 hours to make $100; it would take person B 5 hours to make $100.

If they wanted to split something that cost $100 and have it so that the amount they paid makes it so they both had to put in the same amount of hours, how would you solve...

I came up with the following equation because (person A should pay an amount based on a ratio of what they make vs what person b makes and then add person B's payment to get $100) $60.50(13/20) + $60.50 ~ $100 or 39.33 + 60.50 ~ $100

x(13/20) + x = $100
x + x = $100/(13/20)
2x = $153.84615
x = $76.923

but when i plug the number into the equation, it does not equal $100.. x should equal something near $61.75..

where am i going wrong?
