My Theory on the Droid X/2 Release!

  1. Here's my Theory!
The Droid X and Droid 2 was supposed to be released together in august both with 2.2. Reasons...

Verizon forced Moto to release the X with hopes to steal some of Apples mojo. Verizon had to announce the X the day b4 the Iphone 4 release to give current customers a phone to look forward to and give ATT customers a reason to come to Big Red.

The X was not meant for 2.1. I think Moto has been developing the X from day one to use 2.2 but in order to get the X ready now, Moto had to put a rushed 2.1 and a bland blur on the X to get it out to us. Thats why I think that some are having the issues they are having and thats why we got a update not even a week after release.

I think that when we get 2.2 it will be polished and Moto blur (or whatever its called) will look and funtion alot better and not as bland.
Just my theory... What yall think?

YES! unfounded threories! gotta love it (& I don't mean the ice cream cup size at ColdStone (actually that's gotta have it I think))

Seems plausible now where's the project Blue Book blacked out documents to further support yet not confirm this theory ??

I too, think the Droid X was rushed ahead in the sales timeline, but not for the reason you suggest. I think the Droid X was pushed ahead because Verizons current flagship phone (the Incredible) was mired down in a constant back-order status because of the screen availability from SamSung and HTC. If Verizon had given Motorola just one or two more weeks of production time before launch, I'm sure Verizon would have had plenty of X's available on launch day and would not have gotten into soldout status like the Incredible.

I do agree with you that the Droid X was to be released with Android 2.2 at launch however.

But of course this is just my opinion/theory, and yours could very well be closer to the truth.
