Remove stock email client?

go to settings/applications/manage applications.

Find the stock email app in there (You may have to go to settings and make sure that all apps are listed, not just third party) Look through the options and make sure it is not set as default. You can also force quit the app from here, and you might as well. Do the same with the K-9 app and make sure it is default, but don't force quit it :p
After that you should be good.

I will be trying K9 mail since the default client SUCKS!

Ha, yes it does. I might've tried K9 if it wasn't for that awful icon. I'd hate looking at it everyday. I tried maildroid and it is very good, but the first day I had it my battery drained very quickly. I can't say/don't know if it was the lone culprit though. I'd recommend giving it a try...

I hate the icon too. I'm using laucherpro and have it in my dock but it is using the launcherpro icon for mail instead of the ugly K9 one. Makes it very accessible without having to look at the ugly icon.

Ah! I think ADW has a similar ability to have the icon look different...hmm, I might give k9 a shot....might be a while...After my maildroid-battery draining debacle, I'm trigger shy on some apps...

K-9's horrible dock icon was a big reason for me to pursue LauncherPro. Still setting it up (I have things organized into a lot of folders in TouchWiz) but I expect to be making a full conversion.

Incidentally, despite setting K9 to be the default email client, if you go and click on the email address of someone in Contacts, it still only gives you two options: [Gmail] and [Message] (SMS). That's braindead.

It'd be really nice to just shoot into the default email app from Contacts and not always have to go into email first then start typing the name.

I 2nd that on the maildroid being a batter HOG! Uninstalled it and went back to the OEM mail program. K9 was OK but not any better then OEM.
