Help Possible Battery Fix from HTC

My uptime/awake is second for second identical.

I've disabled all synching apps, turned off background sync, uninstalled widget related apps, etc. NOTHING Makes a difference.

Why is it when i go to running apps in application manager EVERY sprint app is running, so is AMAZON MP3 and a slew of other crap i have NEVER opened. WTF?

I'm about over HTC at this point.

Mine is draining faster. I was getting anywhere from 17-20 hours with moderate to heavy use. has drained 24 percent in the last three hours with very little use, just left theater, Dinner for Smucks. I have noticed that advance task killer is not killing the apps that are marked to be killed. Usually when I bring the phone back up only the apps that I have slected to stay open are on the atk pulldown screen. Now I will have several that are marked running still.

It is part of the risk of downloading an unofficial release..

17-20 hours?! How?

Basically using it as a computer around the house, using mainly wifi, and web browsing. I am pretty sure that once I get back to the office next week were I get a very weak 3g signal I will not be getting these numbers. I guess I need to qualify that 17-20, which would be the battery usage info, but in reality a strong 8-10 hours of battery. I will have a better gauge come Monday and Tuesday.

PUTTING THIS IN BOLD SO EVERYONE SEES IT.

AFTER UPDATING TO FROYO, YOU PROBABLY WILL NEED TO GO BACK AND CHANGE THE SETTINGS YOU CHANGE PREVIOUSLY. *#*#4636#*#* DOES NOT WORK SO YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD NETWORK FROM THE MARKET SO YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR CDMA AGAIN (I found that mine had switched itself back to auto).

I also found some things syncing that I had turned off. Just a word to the wise, check your settings if you had things changed because the update may have switched a few things back.

I'm losing 10% an hour and I am not even using the phone. I am in a good service area and hooked on 3g with wifi off. The phone is running apps in the background that it never did before.

My uptime is identical and the phone is not sleeping. God I hope this is not the official. I like some of the enhancements but this is freakin buggy as hell. I really wish I didn't update and waited till the 3rd.

Same thing here. HTC is quickly becoming a joke. Here is a tip HTC: don't modify the base OS if you can't do it in a stable and acceptable manner. Their last update bricked phones and this one makes the phone all but unuseable.

Thanks for nothing, HTC.

I'm at about 30%. been off charger since 6am central time. Been texting most of the day, couple of phone calls, surfing the web for about an hour, updated my twitter and google reader apps a couple times. Kept my data connection turned off otherwise. I auto kill background apps every time screen goes off.

Idk if thats good or not...only been using the Evo for a week now so its a fresh battery.

Hold your very small and crippled horse, pilgrim, not even one person in this thread has reported the same issue you're having.

TERRIBLE!

I've got the bug where something makes the phone uptime and awake time match second for second and its draining the battery dead in 2 hours.

WTF causes that and how do i fix it?

Turn off background data and auto-sync for now.

You may have something stuck syncing behind your back.

Same thing happened to me in 2.1.

Try it for a few hours, see if the problem goes away.

Slow down, cowboy.

You don't know if the trouble's a rogue app or something simple that lost one bit (literally, one bit) of control info causing this problem.

If my background data suggestion doesn't work, please follow my suggestion from last night's installation instructions:

Don't forget to update your PRL after this update.
