Has anyone actually scratched the Hero screen?

I don't like using screen protectors if I don't have to. And this glass screen seems pretty scratch proof (for the most part anyways, I know anything could be scratched). But in everyday usage, taking pretty good care of your phone, have you put any scratches on it? I've had mine a month now, no protection, and not a single hairline scratch to be found. I carry it in my front pocket always and tend to set it down where ever and it's still good.

I know lots of people are using screen protectors, but for those that aren't, has anyone actually needed one in normal everyday moderate care use? How good is this screen anyways?

I've had the phone since it came out, carry it naked in my front pocket every day, and the screen looks just like it did the day it came out of the box.

I've always had screen protectors until this phone, so I was nervous at first, but this screen seems pretty bullet proof. My only fear now is dropping the phone, screen down on some rough asphalt or something. I'm sure that would scratch it.

I'm happy to hear that most haven't scratched it yet :)

I wouldn't have one but I like the feel of the boxwave anti-glare. It makes it a lot easier to slide fingers on plus it doesn't show fingerprints.

Now only if they would make one that was easy to slide across and didn't take away from how good the screen looks...

I did actually just buy this last week, should have it soon in the mail. I was getting nervous so I bought it just in case. So it really doesn't affect how your fingers slide on the screen? I love how slick the naked screen is so I'd hate for that to change if I put it on. How obvious is it that there is a protector on there? Does the anti glare really work?

Well I got the anti-glare because the texture feel to it. My fingers sometimes get stuck on the naked screen if my hands are sweaty. The anti-glare works ok, I really just use it so my finger doesn't get hung up on the screen.

I carry mine in my pocket most of the time when not at work, while I am at work I use the old HTC pouch from my Mogul, I have yet to see any scratched so I took a key and a knife to it and now I am the proud owner of a really scratched screen.... on my old Instinct! :D

DISCLAIMER:
My Hero was not harmed during the making of this post. However my Instinct was severely harmed.

I've had my Hero a little over a week, and I absolutely have babied it. I never carry it in my pocket, have never dropped it, and always take good care of it. The other day I noticed a tiny spot near the upper-middle portion of the screen. It originally looked like a drop of water got on the screen, but when I tried to wipe it off I realized it wasn't going anywhere. I don't notice it unless it is over an all white background, and even then it's not overtly obvious, but it drives me nuts and I hate to think that a brand new phone already is blemished like this.

Does anyone think it'll be worth my while to take the phone back to Sprint and ask for a replacement? Knowing Sprint I'm sure they'll just tell me that I caused the damage and that they cannot replace the phone for me, but I guess it could be worth a shot.

Been in my front pocket naked for almost 4 weeks now. Nothing to show. Looks the same as the day it was unboxed. This may sound strange but sometimes I just rub my thumb over the screen as the phone sleeps - it's sort of relaxing.

You can never, ever, borrow my phone.

 pervert

What he said!!! x2

I originally asked how tough is the screen. Well I was at a best buy and they had a working model of the Hero out (shocker I know! I didn't think they put out working models). So when no one was looking I took out my keys and really tried to scratch the screen. And......nothing! I couldn't believe I didn't leave a single mark or hairline scratch.

I know some of you have managed to mar your screens, so I know it's not unscratchable, but I for one am now very secure with the Hero glass screen. Just thought I'd toss that out there. :D

I had a cheap screen protector on it for the first few weeks and hated it. It felt different, the protetor was all scratched up and made the phone screen look awful. Took it off and never looked back.

4 weeks now without a screen protector and not even the slightest hint of scratches. I carry the phone in my front pocket and am pretty rough with it.

Well I am waiting on a screen protector in the mail, but I put my phone in my hoodie pocket last night and then totally forgot (bad habit of mine, throwing everything in my hoodie pocket). So then I was going to buckle my son into his car seat and threw my keys into my hoodie pocket as well, not even remembering my phone was in there.

I looked and yup, a little scratch in the bottom right hand corner, barely noticeable, but I wanted to cry anyway. My phone was in there with my keys all of about 30 seconds before I realized it and took the phone out.

So I guess it depends, if you're prone to throwing things in your front pocket or a bag or anything, then I'd get one.

I never used to use screen protectors, then I put a major scratch into a screen of a phone I used to have, by habitually throwing it in my front pocket of my hoodie with my keys. When it's really cold out, I just want to get out, get the kids buckled and get into the car. lol.

No scratches on the screen, but the plastic by my usb port has a crack. I have never dropped the phone at all. I guard It with my life. I guess just cheap material. Has anyone else experience this?
