registering Vibrant on MySamsung

What are you guys entering for Model Code?

I'm seeing the below choices but can't find anywhere which one my phone is:
1. SGH-T959ZKATMB
2. SGH-T959ZKBTMB
3. SGH-T959ZKDTMB
4. SGH-T959ZKMTMB

Yes, when you fill in your imei number, that automatically fills in.
Thay say on the site that you have to remove your battery door to find it, but it is in your settings under about phone, if you scroll down.
Much easier.:)

I registered and then I wrote a review. I gave the Vibrant an overall decent score and pointed out all of its strong points. I also pointed out (tactfully) the issues, including reception loss and a few others. I then went on to state a lot of these issues could be fixed via an OTA update.

I received an email this morning stating they could not post my review because it did not follow the 'requirements", meaning I did not blow sunshine up everybody's butt and rave about the phone. I absolutely followed all of the rules but I guess Samsung doesn't want to know the truth!

I was very unbiased and professional in my review. Every product has issues and what good is a review if they are not outlined along with the strengths?

Your judgment may not be as un-bias as you might think. Should of saved it and showed us what it was. It is hard for a person to know how bias they're without proper demonstration and feedback. Not saying I do not believe you, but do not be narcissistic and act like Samsung is tyrannical.

WOW! 5 posts and already calling someone narcissistic! LOL :p Here is my review:

I purchased the Samsung Vibrant on 6/28/2010. The device as a whole is very attractive and is easy to use. Some reviewers complain that the light weight makes the device feel cheap. In my opinion the Vibrant has a nice build quality and is very streamlined.

The processor is snappy with none of the lags or stutters I have read about.
The Touch Wiz interface is not overly intrusive nor does it run extremely deep as you can still see much of the stock Android UI mixed in. Being that stock Android and Sense have been around longer I feel that this "skin" will grow on people in time.

Call quality is great on both ends, voices come through clearly and sound natural and I have had no complaints about my voice from callers. The camera takes very nice and clear pictures with no real distortion in a well lit room or outdoors, although the lack of a flash on such a high end phone is puzzling.

Battery life is decent and with some power saving modifications the phone last more than a day while making calls texting and web surfing. As mentioned before call quality is clear but it could be a little louder, this is true also of the external speaker. I am sure this can be fixed with a software update.

I have had some issues with losing signal if my hand covers or even gets to close to the bottom of the phone. The signal display will quickly drop from full to no bars, although I have never dropped a call when this happens. I have checked the strength in the settings as well and it does diminish, this is not just the "bars" dropping.

Also I retain a much better signal on Edge than 3g even though I am in a strong 3g area. I am not sure if the erratic 3g or call signal can be fixed with an OTA update or not but I am sure one would help some of the issues.

The GPS is also inaccurate but I am POSITIVE that an update will fix this and soon. Overall the Vibrant is a sleek powerhouse with an AMAZING Super AMOLED display. This device merges form and function very well and even with its "issues" it is a buy in my book.

In the past Samsung has gotten a bad name for not updating the software in their devices, i.e. Instinct, Moment and Galaxy Spica to name a few. I feel if they keep updates rolling out in a timely matter for the Galaxy S models and future devices they can turn this around in a big way!

That was my review, I really don't see anything wrong with it. All devices have downfalls. But then again I am a narcissist. :)

Very good review, and yes companies only let good reviews up.
I wont say what company it was, but one time I wrote a very detailed review for a product I purchased on the companies website. From my review it was obvious I was a dedicated customer, customer of that product for 10 yrs, and I was very upset about the new manufacutring standards the company used. Well boy was I in for the biggest shock of my life. They never posted my review, but they contacted me via email, saying they read my review, they agreed with what I wrote, and apologized that I got a bad product, and get this...they sent me a new product overnight free of charge. So companies deffinately read reviews and they decide which goes up and which doesn't.

In my opinion, even shitty reviews, as long as honest, should be posted. Otherwise the company is faking people out by allowing only positive reviews up.

Nice review KCS. There is no perfect wireless device. Given what is available I don't really see anything out there that I would want in place of the Vibrant.

I kinda like the backcasing givin to the Captivate though. Not that i think the Vibrant feels cheap because i dont. I just like how that one looks and feels more. Regardless, ill be getting a case anyways eventually so it dont really matter.

I registered and then went to "service request" wanting to report the GPS problem. The page that comes up lists my profile including the device I registered, but I don't see anything to actually create a support ticket.

Also, the warranty field is empty. I would have thought it would show a termination date. I'm a little unclear about the warranty. I'm using the Vibrant without a T-mobile account so I don't know what T-mobile's obligation is as the seller. The box came with a Samsung warranty pamphlet that seemed to be saying there was a 1 year warranty from Samsung.

What are you guys entering for Model Code?

I'm seeing the below choices but can't find anywhere which one my phone is:
1. SGH-T959ZKATMB
2. SGH-T959ZKBTMB
3. SGH-T959ZKDTMB
4. SGH-T959ZKMTMB

Where is the model code? I read this thread hoping to find out where to look for the model number of my specific samsung vibrant handset. I've powered off my phone removed my battery and searched for it there - it's NOT there so don't waste time looking there. I have searched through all of the phone's information under the Settings menu - it's NOT there either so don't waste time looking there either. I'd really just like to know where it is. I've canceled and started the register product process over a couple of times now and this is what happens for me.

  • I enter in the Product group and hit tab, which takes me over to the Model name even though the field is locked to me yet.
  • I move to the Category field and make my selection, which automatically moves the cursor into the Serial number field. Checking the Sub-Category, Model name, and Model code fields confirms that all of those fields are restricted; I can't put anything in them.)
  • Takes me to the Serial number (IMEI) field so I enter in my IMEI and hit tab.
  • The other fields with asterisks don't fill in on their own so I return to Sub-category where I can now select my carrier and move to the Model name and fill it in too.
  • The Model code is still unchanged and I don't know what to make it. I can find no indication as to where I can locate the correct value.
So I return to the original question of this thread where jkcheng122 asked where to find the Model name.

If anybody knows the secret to this mystery please share with those of us scrounging around trying to find it.

Cheers,
Jennifer

It looks like this thread is kinda dead, but I just got off chat help with samsung about locating the Model "code". It's not promising, but does offer some solace in the matter. I'm going to save the conversation, in case there is an "issue" later on.

Charles P: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung tech support. How can I help you today?

Visitor: I just registered my Vibrant and I chose SGH-T959ZKATMB as the model code because I couldn't find it on the phone itself
Visitor: I chose it because it was the first option.

Charles P: Please give me a moment to work on this issue.

Visitor: there were 4 options and I didn't recognize any of them
Visitor: ok

You are now chatting with 'Barney'

Barney: I understand that you are not able to register your Samsung Vibrant, am I correct?

Visitor: I did register it, but because I couldn't find the model "code" I just chose the first of four options.
Visitor: I chose SGH-T959ZKATMB

Barney: There will not be any issue with choosing SGH-T959ZKATMB

Visitor: ok. I need to register another phone. And the forums are confused as to where to find that information. Do you know where to find it for future reference?

Barney: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.

Visitor: k

Barney: I will be right with you.
Barney: Use the below link to register your device:
Barney: Samsung

Visitor: I understand where to register it. One of the options asks which model "code" I have. I know that the model number is located under the battery. Where do I locate the model "code"?

Barney: You will get both serial number and battery code under the device.

Visitor: I see a IMEI numver and a S/N number
Visitor: certainly nothing that looks like: SGH-T959ZKATMB or any variance

Barney: You can just put the device name in google, you will find the model number there.

Visitor: I know the model number. Your website is asking for the model "code", too
Visitor: the model number is: SGH-T959
Visitor: The four dropdown options on your website limit me to:
Visitor: SGH-T959ZKATMB
Visitor: SGH-T959ZKBTMB

Barney: You can use the following link to check it:

Visitor: SGH-T959ZKMTMB

Barney: Model / Serial Number Location
Barney: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.

Visitor: that link's not really helping either

You are not currently in a chat session.

I particularly enjoyed the part about using google.
