Yes, but I got my Desire from the Carphone Warehouse, so it's an unbranded one. If you got yours direct from Voda, then it's likely to be locked, and you'll need to wait until Voda release their 2.2 update; and no date on that yet.

(You might also be lucky if you bought it during May from a Voda store, as some people say they got unbranded phones then as well.)

i got my htc desire on voda when it first come out i would say about 2/3 weeks after as they did not have none in stock and i hate to wait

Still no update for me with Vodafone. My phone is definitely unlocked because I tried my brother's 3 sim card the other day. Not sure why I haven't received it yet.

It may not have been released in your area yet, HTC aren't releasing it worldwide today.. but you should have it by the end of the week

But to save you all some time, being unlocked is irrelevant. It needs to be unbranded. If you get a network logo on startup (Eg. vodafone symbol) then your phone is branded and you'll have to wait.

Sounds like it, what version of software are you running? If your phone is unbranded I think the latest version before froyo is 1.24.

Am I right in thinking that if you have a rooted desire (unlocked) with a modded froyo rom that you can not update to the official one from HTC ...Only asking as when I check for software update all i get is "your phone is up to date "

Sounds like it, what version of software are you running? If your phone is unbranded I think the latest version before froyo is 1.24.

Just got my desire a day ago and its deffo unlocked & unbranded but my software says 2.1 update...how do i get the 2.2?

i purchased the phone from someone who got a upgrade, now they said it was from t mobile, as i put my orange sim in, worked perfect so i know its unlocked...plus the build number matches unbranded n unlocked desires.
