Hi, I'm in UK and got the desire on the official froyo. I've been on froyo now since Monday early after noon, so I think I'm in a good position to notice any problems.
Since being on froyo, my battery is worse then in 2.1. From full battery just leaving It In standby over an hour goes down a fraction but as soon as I either use camera or web it goes down to half way almost straight away. I have also noticed my batter or phone seems to get really hot very quickly. I'm charging my phone a lot more then before & using it the same amount of time I always do.
Another problem, my phone signal is always at 1-2 bars which I was always 4-5 in 2.1. Sometimes it goes to G and stays there.
I have noticed my phone was very quick at start of 2.2 but as days gone on, it seems laggy at times even after taskkiller.
Sometimes pages won't load, I have to keep clearing cache then it will load. I have also got my very first sense force close which I've never had since having desire on 2.1.
Having full flash is excellent but its also a battery drainer.
Anyone have any of these problems?.

I've had the official froyo update for about 3 days now, and although its hard to tell 100% as of yet, it does seem that the battery goes down alot quicker than in 2.1.

I do have a feeling though that I have been fooling around with it a bit more than usual. However when browsing the internet, you can definately notice the battery going down significantly fast.

This morning right after a charge, it was going down about a percentage every minute or couple of minutes.

Not voting as it is way to early still, but as a Froyo user (official) since friday I havent noticed any improvement from the stock ROM. I had a rooted desire prior to getting it replaced (screen issue) and the new one came with 2.2 (Root blocker) pre-installed :(

My initial impressions are the ROM is worse on battery life, but I need to run the phone in before I can be certain about it. One thing is for certain, it is better to root and use a custom build IF you want a decent battery life!

Since HTC have seen fit to block the route to root on Froyo (for the time being anyway) I guess I'll be using it as a test model for the very near future

Froyo is an excellent up date but I think it still needs tweaking. Like now, Im replying via desire and the keysas I'm typing are fine but can go from laggy to very laggy, to the point where I can type a full word & I won't see the word as I type, it will pop up after typed the word. (if that makes sense?). Hope there is a fix soon?. HTC could do with bringing out an upgraded battery for the desire. Android needs an option where you can choose if you want an app to run in background or auto close. I've tried ones in the market but sometimes they mess up ya phone. This Rom could of done with another month to perfect before releasing it.

My battery life has improved a lot since upgrading to Froyo. Before, it would drain the battery pretty quickly, even when I didn't play with it at all. I could leave it on a table, screen locked, no wifi or mobile internet connection on, and it would still drain a noticeable amount in no time. Now, it uses virtually no power in this state, which was what annoyed me the most. And in addition to that, of course, it uses a lot less when I'm actually using it. So I'm happy :)

I've charged my desire again about 4 hours ago. When I went to use it I was amazed it was still on full bar & remained on full bar after using the camera afew times. It's only when I go onto the net, my battery instantly went down a notch. So the internet is one of the big drainers. Maybe its the flash that's draining battery power when online?.

There is a problem with battery level on froyo... The Desire will drop about 1% per hour on standby with wifi and 3g off.

Sometimes it will maintain the same battery level after use but then it suddenly drops a lot, this is because it doesnt refresh the battery level correctly.

The camera consumes more power than the internet, so it should stay fully charged after some use and 4 hours later

Ok well on 2.1 i was getting roughly with average usage 28 - 36 hours battery life. Now with froyo im lucky if i get 8 / 9 hours before battery dies.I have 2 batterys and they are both performing the same. On another note if i leave my phone on charge over night it will only charge to 98% i have to unplug phone and charge it a further 30 40 mins to get 100% again this is the same for both batterys ...... totally gutted. Just wish i rooted phone now becouse i could have restored to 2.1 via nandroid :(

on another note i spoke to someone at htc warrenty today and they gave me a code to check battery usage / statistics defintly worth checking out :-

*#*#4636#*#*

Lots more information in there as opposed to settings >> battery

I have Froyo installed since last Sunday afternoon. I done a factory reset after the update, fully charged it and then used it as I normally would. When my phone battery indicator turned red and the phone suggested I charge it, the battery was at 15% and the readout on the battery info page read 2d 2h 56m 32s since unplugged. My normal use is light web browsing via WIFI, approx 10 calls a day and approx 10 texts a day.

Just noticed at my battery status, android system uses 54% of the battery, in 2.1 it use to use 43% so froyo definitely uses more battery. Web uses 9%, phone idle uses 5%, cell standby uses 16%, display uses 16%.

Strange conclusion....

You can only conclude that Android is using af larger part of the total battery usage - not that the total usage has increased. It could be that other activities simply uses less than in 2.1.

surprised that there are still people who don't know service menu code: *#*#4636#*#* however that is not the only way to check what is being used and when on the phone. as i see you already have some knowledge on rooting so for you ADB shouldn't be a new thing. so when you plug your phone to pc in cmd type in adb logcat command so it can show and log what is being used and what apps are running as i can tell that most of the issues could be seen from here as some apps are badly coded and constanly running in backgroung which is not really displayed in service menu. so try that and you will see what the phone is doing wrong that affects the battery.
good luck

Mine seems all over the place.

First day, last a while.
Charged up overnight and was apparently at 85% after 8 hours. Need another 2 hours to get to 100%. Usual browsing and email + Facebook during the day and it seems to be dropping rapidly even when not in use - gives me the impression that a webpage of something is still active and downloading new advert data whilst the phone is in standby.

Charged up last night and 100% just now. Looked at my email for 3 secs and left the phone in standby for 15 mins. Battery was at 96%. Dropped by 2% more after installing 4 updates straight after.

Hi, well its definitely the web browser that's the biggest battery drain. I took my 3year old son to an aquarium yesterday & took a good few pictures & 3-5 minutes video recording clips at 720p (which takes up loads of data on sdcard). Before I started taking any pics/recordings my battery was on a fraction from full battery. After I was done doing my recording etc my battery remained at same level. I was pleased.
Then I done a quick browse on the net on way back to car, when done my battery was just below halfway. It's the browser that's become a big drain & I think its because of the 10.1 flash support.
Well that's 1 of the battery drainers, browser.

UPDATE: anyone notice the battery gets very hot quick when in the market & downloading or updating apps, plus sometimes when browsing the web & using camera?.
