Root [PATCH] Bug fixes for leaked Froyo

Figured it would probably be worthwhile to roll an update zip with the fixes for the leaked Froyo release which have been identified thus far.

Patch contents:

  • Fixed force close issues with the browser when interrupting a page load or loading a URL out of email/RSS and hitting back. My patch will replace the browser with a deodexed version from the Evo 2.2 official (but pulled) release, which eliminates this issue.

  • Market fix for missing apps. Changed build.prop such that the phone will identify itself as an N1 running Froyo (credit: adrynalyne).

  • Gmail app replaced with working version. The version included with the leaked ROM is terribly broken (such as adding 0s, not being able to open labels, etc). Patch will replace it with the latest version from the N1, which works great.

  • Superuser replaced to fix sqlite bug. You would not notice this unless you were obsessively watching adb logs but the version included with the leak was not properly closing its' sqlite DB. Patch replaces it with a working version from CM6.

Installation:

Apply the zip via CWM as usual (can be re-run anytime, such as for updates).

Be aware, this patch will clear your Gmail and Superuser data automatically. Thus, your phone will download your mail again and you will need to approve apps requesting root (only after first applying the patch).

Changelog
  • Version 4 - Fixed Browser force close issues.
  • Version 3 - Updated Gmail to 2.2.1 and automated install process completely.
  • Version 2 - Fixed Superuser so that permissions persist.
  • Version 1 - Initial

The audio "fix" isn't incorporated because of the performance impact. It's fairly easy to modify build.props manually if anyone wants to enable that change.

But would installing this patch disable changes to audio that were previously enabled? I would like the audio to remain changed by the prev. patch I installed but would also like to add these enhancements.
Unfortunatley I woul not know how to modify those myself.

I can't seem to get my location to be found after installing this. Not by cell towers, not by WiFi, and not by GPS. This same thing happened when I installed the Hydra kernels. Can someone confirm this before I do a restore?

If you are using any Weather Channel widgets that follow your location, they will say "GPS Unavailable". That's just a nice quick way of checking it.

edit:
I rebooted, and it's working again...so...disregard this! :p

Could you tell me what I would change in the build.props file to enhance audio as I am not as concerned with performance impact as I am with qaulity audio since I use this feature alot.
