Root Official Froyo rom rooted

Here it is folks, those devs at xda have rooted the official version of froyo already.

there are quite a few different roms out now that are rooted versions of default. I'm sticking to vanilla froyo roms purely because the performance is way better.

After my initial problems (solved by the re-release with market fix), I can't get TwiDroyd to get past the initial authentication of my account.

May just go back to Neophytes ROM.

What's the difference between vanilla and the other roms? Do they have sense? I can't quite find a rom that I'm happy with, been thinking about leaving sense and trying one of the froyo without sense, I might have a look at the vanilla ones, are they on xda?

No m8 its not my work, wish i could do that sort of thing though.
Vanilla froyo roms don't have sense on them as even sense slows them down a bit.

Sorry for the lame questions but do you need to install apps2sd first for this?

Currently running djdroid but had to format both my sd cards and then make a new goldcard.

Just downloaded google earth and it's saving to the phone.

Just tried to install apps2sd again using nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire/

and I get the following error at the 'Flash zip from sdcard and select r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip.' stage...

E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at line 5:symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[
Installation aborted

So do I need to fix this problem before installing this rom or will it save apps to my SD anyway?

Its only apps2sd+ that require the partition apps2sd is implemented by froyo its self & the apps have to be coded to use it.
I use mod install location myself which moves the apps to sd if set up

Well it seems to work as well without having to partition your card

see the glossary sticky for difference between a2sd and a2sd+. mod install location makes all apps store on sdcard (a2sd) by default.
