How do i get the number of notifications to appear in addition to drop down menu?

For texts and emails. Similar to the numbers from iphone which i used previously

Well the number of texts and emails will show on the Messages and Mail app shortcuts. I think the mail app shortcut only shows the number of emails in the default account
