You know, it just doesn't seem right. In two days it'll be two months since the evo has been released and people are still having a hard time finding the phone due to supply issues??? I'm starting to believe that there was a recall or a hault put on the evo due to manufacturer defects. Two months is ample time to get this phone pushed out into the market. Anyone else agree / disagree?

HTC just doesn't have the supplies to meet the demand (screen shortages). The incredible has been out since april and people still can't get their hands on them. I think its absolutely ridiculous that you still can't get either of these phones. I really want the Evo but I'm so frustrated I can't get them anywhere. HTC is really losing business. This whole shortage is making me consider preordering the epic when it gets a release date. I'll probably be able to get my hands on an epic before Evos are readily available. You blew it HTC!

I know I got mine in amazon but now my neo wants one and he can't find it anywhere

You just have to get on a list at Radio Shack or Best Buy and wait. You can't tell me you have been on a waiting list at one of these retailers for 2 months and you still have no phone thats impossible because I have had 4 since launch. Get on a list!

Most places aren't taking lists. I got my Evo on launch day. My son then decided he'd like an Evo since he's due for his upgrade. I have called every Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and BB around here and there are none in stock and no one has a waiting list. The demand is so high they are just selling to first come, first served.

Radio Shack has a list system in place. Your best bet is to go to several different R/S stores and get on all the lists until one of them gets stock. If they dont have a formal list system talk to the store mgr. and have one ordered just for you.

Anyone know the odds of me getting a evo? I had my sprint Hero for 4 days (I'm a new customer) and I want to upgrade to the Evo.. To try to save me driving around if I call will they give me any info? I don't want my 30 days to end and I'm stuck with this phone...

Having said that they said (Sprint CS) said I still get my $150 discount on the evo but I just make up the difference on the phone and the 4G extra price.

I'm trying stores 50 miles from where I live and need be I'd do a little farther.

I think the demand for the Epic will be very strong, it will be interesting to see how Samsung deals with production.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S series globally and I haven't really heard of any shortages. Plus Samsung has an advantage because they design and manufacture the processor, memory, and the super AMOLED display...whereas HTC has to order all the parts from other manufacturers.

We are an indirect Sprint dealer in a large city in the Midwest. Sprint is a small part of what we do, but we sell/activate about 500 new units a year. Our allotment is "0" and we have not been able to sell even one unit. The latest email from Sprint (8/4/10) is below:

EVO Inventory Update
Customer demand for the HTC EVO 4G continue to be at unprecedented levels and we continue to expect challenges for all channels given the inventory constraints. The issue is unrelated to any Sprint actions, unfortunately HTC cannot produce enough to meet the demand and this is compounded by a global parts shortage which is impacting all carriers. We will continue to keep you updated on the inventory status.

8/8/10 White EVO Launch Delayed For Dealers
Due to unprecedented customer demand for the HTC EVO, the launch of the white EVO is delayed until further notice. We are working hard to launch the white EVO and will update you when the new launch date is available.

In other words, don’t hold your breath. We have several employee’s, including me, that are waiting and have been told it may be several more months if we want to get it through the discount channels. It is frustrating to sit through Sprint’s mandatory online service training classes and not have an EVO to use!

I became eligible for upgrade 8/1. Noone had any in stock of course. Best Buy told me to call everyday starting 8/2. Called 8/2 and instead of having me call everyday, they took my name and number. Got a call this morning (8/6) that they had a black one ready for pick up and that they would only hold it a few hours. Oy!!! Needless to say, I'm getting off work early to pick it up.
The BB is in Santa Clarita, CA (northern Los Angeles County).
YMMV. Good luck to all in getting theirs!

I guess I just got lucky then. Went in to the local Sprint Store (in a strip mall) and placed order. Was told it would be about a week or two. Got a call three days later that it was in and I could pick it up. This was all about two weeks ago. For those concerned about the 30 window for new customers, I was advised that these people automatically get moved up the waiting list when one comes in. Not sure about how fair this is to longtime customers but I wasn't about to pass up the phone.
