So sony lied about multi touch...

What can we as consumers do about it?

I for one got the X10 as I believed it was going to get multi touch as it was promised by Sony Ericsson, so I got this phone based on lies from the manufacture!

If it was any other product I would just demand my money back at the shop where I brought it but as it is a contract phone I have no idea what legal rights I have.

Also when I was researching this phone I swear I read it had 512mb of ram on the sony site now it reads 300 and something.

So anyone have an idea on where to go from here?

^^^^LMAO^^^^

True but For Sony to say it will come with it and then 3 months after release they turn round and just announce that it will never have it is a huge joke at many peoples expense.

Wait till I get 2.1 update and moan about how it's still slow due to a lack of RAM :) That is purely speculation as Monkey kick on the X10 played next to the Desire is like watching it play in slow motion. Honest the monkey on the Desire will kick the ball 3-4 times whilst the monkey on the X10 will kick the ball 1-2 times, at the time I blamed ver1.6 when he laughed at the speed the ball bounces we will see. Then the RAM thing leads me onto Gingerbread and the fact the X10 is the only high end phone released lately that has less than 512mb RAM and for me this makes it a mid end phone. Now if only we could swap chip set like a RAM card in a PC?!?

But at least we get HD soon :)

EDIT: OK just been to XDA and the pre-realise 2.1 OS has not enabled the 16 million colour scope of the screen and is still at 56k and pictures still have a very noticeable colour gradients so it's still a mid end phone as some pictures on the phone look as bad as some pictures on my old K750i. They better enable the 5 million colour rates as again this is something they said would come with updates.

Nothing new for sony too lie through there teeth, they are currently facing class action over the ps3's removal of install other os, alot of people bought a ps3 because it could be a lynux pc too and because the hackers were exploiting it through the other os bit they just removed it! sony neeed to make amends for this no multitouch debacle in this day an age every touchscreen should be multitouch, i shouldn't of been tight fisted at upgrade time and forked out for an iphone.... yeah i said it, and what lol

I may be wrong here, but I don't think it's specifically the fact that MT isn't going to be included that is powerkiters gripe. I think it's more than MT would obviously be nice, and we were expecting to get it so it's a great shame that we won't. Furthermore, I would bet money that the majority of us are on 24 month contracts on this phone. Why should we be stuck with a substandard phone for 2 years?!

It would be nice to have what was promised (to sell the phone) as I went with the X10 over other phones as it was going to get a multi touch update so yes it is important.

If you spent money anything and it did not come with what was promised would you just "be happy about it" ? Or would you complain about it and demand your money back?

Yes I can play "Andrio" but have a try, even though it has a diagonal jump button there is still a pause where the character just stops running and most of the jumps from gap to gap are missed due to this which is why I gave up with it but thought I would still post a thread about the app so others could try it.

Huntleth!

You are bang on the money and have a thanks for your post as you seem to understand my gripe perfectly and seem to echo my thoughts "Why should we have to have substandard phones for 2 years?"

I did my research before I got this phone and the promise from SE to get an upgrade to MT on the X10 is the reason I got it over other phones like the HTC Desire. Went in to my phone shop today and the manager was out for the day so will go back there tomorrow.

You guys are lucky. Here in south Africa, once we get that phone and open the box, there is absolutely NO RETURN !!!! If the phone is faulty, it will be sent away for repairs and worst case scenario will be replaced - with the same brand. And yea, we are also all locked into 2 year contracts...

Sorry for the double post, but it is technically the same here, but there's the glimmer of hope that we may be able to get a replacement as technically the phone was mis-represented. No doubt SE would turn round and say it was not an official statement when MT was announced initially though.

I managed to exchange my Xperia for the Desire from CPW - but that was because I moaned about the phone within a few days from starting the contract. And what a phone Desire is - it's miles better than the xperia. And multi-touch my not be useful for some, but if you use the browser a lot, multi-touch is a MUST.

Actually the zoom-box the xperia has is far easier than MT in my opinion.

im sorry but i have to disagree, the zoom buttons are so much more convenient IMHO,, allows for total one hand operation, the only place I can see MT being useful is games

but yes they did lie,, and if it is bothering you that much go right after them,, load up on ammunition and start firing,,

cause as for sony i hate most there products and there ethics,, but i do like this phone out of all the ones i tried
