Hi. So, I am new to EVO and Android and I can not figure this out..... I have people listed in my contacts with ocupations like "Doctor", "Dentist", etc, under "Job Title" and contact listed as working for "State Farm", "Hooters", etc under Organization.

No matter what I do, the phone will not locate these people if I use people search, or just the regular search when using those parameters. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for reading this.

I downloaded bettercontacts and contact search +. Better contacts allows you to sort by company name of thats what you need.

I personally like contact search+ as it works directly from the search button at the bottom right of your phone. It also searches within notes for the contact(actually all fields). It learns and gets better the more you use it. I don't know how but it just works.

I think contact search+ is a paid app but it's worth every penny I paid for it.

The company directory is still not working in Android 2.2 at least on my EVO 4G. But the good news is that you dont need it to work. There is a better way. I kept thinking that Google was supposed to be the king of searching, so I could not accept the fact that you cannot atleast search by company name. After doing some digging I found out a way to find contacts by company name.

Press the "+" sign next to "Phone" on your home screen then select "Widgets" next select "Google Search" then select "People" and place the search bar on your home screen. Now you can search your contacts by name, company, number, etc. You can select the contact and see the full contact info for that individual and dial the number from there. You can also have the search pull up related email, texts, etc. when you search for the individuals name.

I do not have an option for People, only all, web, or apps. I am on Froyo. Where did you find the people option

If you go to Settings>Search>Searchable you can check mark what items you want to search for

I think this just allows you to have the option to search for thoes thing. To actually seach for them I have to hit the blue square with the g next to the seach box then hit, for example, people. After than I can type in a business name or whatever and it will seach through my list of contacts. For some reason the "all" only searches the web for me.

Click on the "search" icon>Menu>Search Settings>Google Search>uncheck "Show web suggestions"
