I got my droid x today and I opened the box and inside is the droid x with no plastic around it except for the screen protrector plastic with a bunch of bubbles under it like it was taken off and replaced. Is it normal for the doid x to not have a plastic bag around the phone and just floating around in the cardboard box (small one made for the droid x that is)? I noticed that the soft touch material on the top and bottom are scuffed from just floating around in there without protection and the power button has a little scratch on it.

Did I get a used/returned phone and do I have to rant and rave at customer service right now?

I guess I just have a hard time believing that any tech gadget comes naked in a cardboard box anymore. Of the ridiculous number of gadgets I have purchased in my life I can't remember the last time one came without a crinkly plastic bag or something around it to protect it from the cardboard.

all that called bluff are right... finally got through all the setup crap and for sure it's 2.1 update 1!!!!! The rep on the phone said all phones that went out after 7/20 got 2.2... liar liar pants on fire! admittedly I was excited too even though i have no idea what repercussions having froyo really has!

why can't anyone tell the truth... although he did say it was odd that the phone was not protected in the box so maybe this was red-headed stepchild phone.

All droid X's that shipped out were naked in the box except for the plastic screen protector. yours was not special in that aspect, and most likley you had a CSR who likes to blow smoke up peoples asses OR most likley he has no clue what the hell he is saying. It really is a shame that they let people like that work there lol.

I got the droid, INC, and DroidX all within a couple weeks of each other.

Out of all 3 the INC had the best packaging.

Not to say the Droid Vanilla, or X was bad, just INC was better.

All 3 came with the battery, charger, and backplate in a sealed bag. The phone itself only had the screen protector on it.
