how to get $50 battery credit from sprint

I called Sprint and asked them if there was something else I can do to improve battery life on EVO. I told them I did all the dimming screens, turning different radios off( wifi, Bluetooth,4g,) all that stuff & the advanced tech support guy said their's nothing else he knows off. Then he said he can offer me a $50 credit on my bill to buy a battery. They don't give you money but the fact that they're giving you $50 off your bill to "buy a new battery" is a step in the right direction.( its not a bad way to get $50 off your bill either if your short that month let me know how this works for you guys

with my hero i went in and told them i couldnt make it through the day, they asked if a new battery would help, they said as soon as one is returned, they would give me one of those, so about a week later they called and let me know it was there to pick up, now i have three for my evo! I think they are willing to help when you approach it the right way.

Why bother with all that, when you can go get 2 extra batteries and an external charger for $10 (total) on eBay? Sure it takes about a week to 8 days shipping, but the batteries I got are essentially generic OEM batteries. No problems, and having the ability to charge up 2 batteries at a time is super convenient.

I think that's the way to go, but only if you trust stuff made and shipped out of Hong kong enough to use them in your $500 phone. I do, hell, they last a little bit longer than the bloody murder red battery it comes with, only difference is the lack of HTC branding and fancier wrapper around it. Still solid, still safe. I go through two batteries a day occasionally, so having three works well. At $10 shipped, not a bad deal.

Good info though I hope people don't abuse this. Sprint is very lenient on issues I've found, they let a lot of things slide and offer great prices. If people start abusing things like this we are all going to end up paying for it in the long run. I don't want to pay Verizon prices again!

...Take out your stock battery... look at where it's made. Now look at one of your $10 pack batteries... notice anything similar? Yep, both from china.

It would be nice to have $50 for a new battery since I bought 2 extras for $10... but I don't use them. I make it through every day problem free.

Yep, I also had battery problems the first few days with the EVO, went out and purchased a spare battery. Used it once. Now my EVO has no trouble making it through long days (5a to 9p) with lots of use. Seems the battery life gets better as the EVO learns and conditions the battery.

My Wife just got her EVO Sunday and we are seeing the same behaviour.

I was talking to the guy at a Sprint store while he was ordering a new Moment for me, he has the EVO and he said it last him about 12 hours of hard use. I can't wait to get one.

That's weird that Sprint did that, my wife took in a Palm Treo for battery issues, and the guy told her their was nothing they could do but upgrade her.

This is good information, but you lost it a little with the whole, "its not a bad way to get $50 off your bill either if your short that month", part. That is fraud. If you have a legitimate complaint and want to talk with Sprint about some sort of compensation, that is fine, but to call just because you think you can lie your way to $50 off is in poor judgement. It is not at all different from the people that pad their insurance claims to collect more than they deserve. As was previously mentioned, you, along with everyone else, end up paying for it in the long run with higher prices.

You know it's not that easy. There are just as many bad stories about the gray market batteries as there are good stories and recommendations. There are companies there that are willing to try and make a fast buck at the cost of the consumers. Caveat Emptor is the best thing you can offer anyone looking for the gray market battery. Keep your guard up, and research the sellers as much as you can.

I knew coming in the evo's battery life was gonna be an issue. I also knew the Epic was gonna be faster, but I don't care!!! I wanted the evo and no I'm not calling sprint to get $50 off so I can buy a battery. No need to make sprint pay for something I knew I was getting and it's flaws that came with it.

I'm gonna either live with this drawback until next year or bite the bullet and order stronger battery out of my own pocket.
