G1 - google mail storage?

hey all!

not sure if this is the same for all androids, but on my G1 google mail (yes, two separate words) storage, which is under manage applications, is taking up 10.12 megs!!!

wtf??

10.12 internal megs! does anyone know what this is for??

ok, so the story from the beginning.
i dont have a boat load of apps downloaded on my phone, 31 to be exact - using a calculater, i added up all of the applications size, which then totaled to 45.747. yeap, 45mb and 747k.

thing is, because of "Google Mail storage" being at 10.12mb my internal storage should be at the 35mb mark.

the numbers work out as the G1 has 72mb odd internal, right? so, 72mb-46mb (rounding off) = 26mb.

but as i said, does anyone know what "google Mail storage" is actuly used for?

there is an option to clear data, but i dont wanna really do this unless i know what it is that its clearing.

cheers all.

Hi Priapus :)

Google Mail storage is the Storage in the Gmail app {I take it you have lots of emails in their or haven't done a factory reset in a while?}.

But if you press the "Clear Data" all it should do is clear everything in your gmail app & Clear the account that's on it. So all you have to do is go back to the Gmail app -> It will prompt you to login -> Log in & your Inbox should sync back with the phone but it won't use so much memory because it will only sync the most recent emails {& unread emails} unless you want to sync emails from an earlier date :)

No Problem :D

I Recommend doing a hard reset every so often {once every few months} unless your having some problems. It's good to hard reset sometimes as it clears some of the Virtual "Junk" in a manner :)

But if your not really having any problems or lag, Don't fix what ain't broken lol
