Gingerbread is the code name for android 3.0/2.3 which is rumored to only be coming to phones with a 1gz processor or higher. My post was just to remind everyone to not get thier hopes up because some random poster who only joined the LG forums in june is confirming 2.2.

04 Aug 2010 11:00 AM Thanks every one for your patience in waiting for LG's response on the Ally's status with the Android 2.2 upgrade. This statement is short and sweet.
"The LG Ally will be upgraded to Froyo with the timeline to be confirmed at a later date."

WooHoo!!
He is the Moderator for the official LG Forums, not the Moderator for the one in the link. Official link to his post is Here.
That still leads me to my original issue. Since when does a forum moderator= a press release for a huge update to one of verizons best selling phones, i mean come on! The last forum moderator on LG's Forums said 80% the Ally is not getting 2.2.
I called LG customer service today and the lady told me that YES it will get the 2.2, she said that they were just told about it yesterday but they do not have a release date yet.
My guess is it will be in about a month, maybe 2 if there were any SERIOUS complications, its in LG's best interest to upgrade the phone as soon as possible because we all know (and they know) that the Ally is a budget Android phone, and giving it Froyo as fast as possible will give LG more $$$
The Ally maybe budget on price but I have had, the HTC Droid, HTC Inc, and the Moto Droid X, and I like the Ally the best. It does what a phone should do best, preform like a phone. It has the BEST batter life of any of the Android phones that I have had. I dont care if the other phones may or may not do some things better, if I am hooked to a charger all the time who needs it.
wish i could say that about my ally, i got the 50% bug so i get about 6-7 hours out of my ally, but i still love this phone and with 2.2 ill marry it lol
