Root 1 Click SimpleRoot over unrevoked 3?

I tried it today, but haven't gone beyond that step (still haven't flashed a new ROM).

I'm waiting for a ROM that incorporates 2.2 and still allows wireless tethering without affecting anything else. I'm hesistant to load a kernal that ups the FPS, because I'm concerned it will affect the performance of the HDMI out.

So anyway, I ran the simpleroot and it appeared to work ok, but I don't know how to test to see if it did anything.

Did it wipe anything? also try installing busybox. It never installed for me with unrevoked 3 since it wasnt a full root. Download it and run to install. I always got an error since im not nand unlocked. So give it a try and let me know : )

I was Unrevolked 3 and I did simple root, It did wipe my stuff. Use Mybackup Pro as it suggests. 1 click root is sweet.. it's so quick and fast. I did have a minor issue with the pc236m.zip(whatever) file failing to update.

simple root is the best way to go. I hear people say that with unrevolked3 you and just flash over the rooted 2.2 rom, makes sense because unrevolked3 does have Clockmod recovery. But i would simple root just to make sure it full root.

That's true but there are some ROM's that will not work with Unrevoked for example CM6.

I'm using the rooted 2.2 rom now, and I downloaded and installed that apk, but it's still not working for me. I've read that I need to download and run a kernel that will make it work, but that it might mess up the camera.

Is there not a way yet to get tether without screwing up anything else?

If you use the kernel in my sig, you will enable wifi tether. But you will be nerfed to 3mpx on the camera. Which is fine by me because the camera optics never justified a 8mpx sensor in the first place.

And to clear up some misconceptions: the custom netarchy kernel does not break 4G. It does not break hdmi out. It does not break wifi. You do get 50+ fps. You can throttle your CPU down to get insane battery life. You get much better touch(drag) sensitivity and 5-point touch. It really is a must-have kernel.
