So have had my Evo since end of june using my hotspot 2 power up my laptops and ps3 no problems got 4g and hotspot going at the same time than I download 2.2 and every time i power up the hotspot the 4g drops out. I call sprint and dude tells me i was one of the lucky ones that got my hotspot for free?? for the first month but now its gonna be 29.95 if i wanna use the hotspot?? hello thats why i bought the fn thing?? He said he would give me one more month for no charge but thats his final offer!! I decline and ask him to give me the president so he can tell me why sprint is sticking it 2 me once again! Does the 2.2 software allow them to turn the hotspot one and off again at will? Until I figure this all out im leaving my other evo on 2.1. Help anyone!

They told me I was one of the lucky ones! Now my luck ran out cause the 2.1 is probably the reason there are no evos out there for sale they dont want to ship them until they all have new software! Now how do I go back to 2.1 anyone??

You were one of the lucky ones that got a trial but eventually you would have had to pay anyway.....The whole bit about getting a trial for HotSpot isnt even supposed to be possible thats where you were lucky

You never had "Free'" HotSpot

Well Sprint has said all along that the hotspot feature was going to cost 29.99 a month. It's been discussed in every review, their web site, ads, and enumerable forum posts. Did you not see any of this before getting the phone? Sprint isn't sticking it to you.

Not only has it been discussed in every review, some reviews even marked the phone down because it wasn't a free service.

Well, actually, Sprint lied to a lot of people... They told me the hotspot and wired tethering was free, part of the $10.00 dollars per month. Then it changed to only wired tethering was included, then nothing.

F__k'em... I rooted my phone.

That said, apparently HTC has given Sprint a tool to rollback updates. The tool was needed to rollback the unofficial update to 1.47 so you can update to the official one because the official one was having issues updating over the unofficial.

It's talked about over on the XDA forum. That said people are waiting to see if a Sprint Tech might "leak" it. Guess we will see.

Supposed HTC notice:

HTC support response to installing 3.26.651.3!! From HTC support-

On Friday, Engadget posted an article telling users how to download and install an unofficial version of software that was found on one of our R&D servers. We pulled server offline within an hour or so of finding out about the issue, with the wrong software (anything other than 1.47.x.x) FOTA updates won
