Wavesecure = rubbish

Hi all
The title was quite blunt - but I'm writing this to warn others about paying for this product. I'm sure it is an excellent product - if you can get it to work.
I made the mistake of paying for a subscription before I tried it. I have never been able to get it working.

I've been in contact with their support deparment who (very occasionally) reply to my email messages. I have done as they asked, run debug versions and supplied them with log files. They tell me that the problem is at their server end and they are trying to fix it.

Since then (weeks ago) I've heard nothing despite repeat attempts to ask them for an update (and my money back).

This morning, my phone told me that an update was available. I eagerly downloaded it in case this fixed the problem - it didn't:(

Just in case anyone from WaveSecure is reading this, please check support tickets IYR-245894 and BQO-385045 and you'll see how lousy you are at supporting a paying customer:mad:

So, although this product may be good, please don't buy it unless you are sure it works first.
Also, if you have any problems, please don't hold your breath waiting for support from them as it probably won't happen.

Be warned...

Cheers

Plob

Hi Damien
Thanks for the message. The issues are many. In short, it does nothing...

If I (from the phone) tell it to back up my contacts, SMS or call logs, it all apprears to be working. I get a progress bar showing that it has found new contacts/SMS or call logs. It then says it is sending them to the server and after a few seconds, I get a notification stating that it transferred 0 items.

If I try the same thing from the web site, I get the SMS messages to start the process - which just gives up after a while.
If I use the web site to find out where my phone is, the same thing happens - nothing.

I ran the debug version that WaveSecure asked me to and supplied the logs. The logs suggest that all is well until my phone tries to connect with the server - but it doesn't respond.

The last reply I got (from WaveSecure support) was this:-
--------------------------------------
Apologies for the delay in reply.

I understand how you feel about not been able to use WaveSecure.

We have received the log file that you sent with the previous ticket, the logs are been investigated by our team. There might be a possibility that the issue that you are having with backup and location might be cause of our server problem. We are trying to have the server fixed.

I will get back to you on ticket ID - IYR-245894 as soon as I get a reply from my team.
Thank you!
------------------------------
That was on the 15th of July. Since then, they have gone to ground and have not responded to any of my requests for an update.
This is why I'm warning people not to expect much if they have problems

Thanks again for asking:)

Hey Plob,
No worries on the speed of the responses... When you back up your contacts to the website, Are they showing up on the website even though your phone is saying 0 contacts transferred? When I did my initial backup it stated 500 contacts transferred (Though I have nowhere near that many contacts) but when I verified it on the website, all my contacts were there (and nowhere near 500 contacts).

First time I location tracked my phone, I received the initiation text immediately but it took several minutes to track the phone. I just assumed it'd take longer than that so I logged out. Today after reading about your issues with he program I logged back in to check it and the original location map was up and working fine and located the phone to my exact house. This tells me that even though you may be logged off of the website, it will continue to try to locate the phone. You can even have the website plot the location of the phone every 15 minutes. Maybe you can try that.

I'm sorry you are having issues, perhaps someone from the company is monitoring the forums and can give you some help or answers.

Hi Damien
Thanks again for the swift reply. Its a shame you don't work for WaveSecure:rolleyes:
I've answered your questions below
Thanks again

[Plob] No. There is nothing on the web site. I constantly see the message "you have not backed up your data yet. Back up now to secure your data"
I just tried it again (for a laugh). The web page shows a rotating icon showing that the backup is in progress (I have received the text messages on my phone). It then sits there for a while and just gives up.

[Plob] I tried it again as you suggest. I get a text message from the web server to kick off the process. It then sits there trying to find the phone for a while and gives up. There is nothing on the web site from previous attempts to track/trace the phone

[Plob] So do I. It would be nice to hear from someone - even if it is just to say "we're still working on it"

Hey Plob,

lol@me working at WaveSecure... I could always use a second income... It'd be helpful for this sick twisted app and phone addiction I seem to have... ;) (Hello, my name is Damien and I'm a recovering app junkie..)

Do you think the issue may be with the network you're running? I see you're using an HTC Hero on O2.. Do you know anyone else successfully running the same setup using Wavesecure? You did mention that it seems as if it's not connecting to the network properly though you are receiving initiation texts... Perhaps the problem is with the phone. Can you surf the internet with your phone?

-Damien
(Wavesecure, if you're paying attention, I am willing to work a second job as a hobby.. I do have plenty of spare time.. ;))

Thanks again mate
I don't know if there are any other O2 users out there who have tried WaveSecure. Perhaps someone on this forum will chime in if they are...

I can surf the internet fine with the phone. I have good connection speeds (HSDPA) with the mobile internet. I'm able to use apps such as Maps, Youtube etc.

I've tried this with mobile internet and also via a WiFi connection - same results

Here's hoping someone at WaveSecure is tuned in

Cheers

Some hackers even discovered security leaks in WaveSecure that allowed hackers to access users online remote control interface. No comment on that by WaveSecure up to now...

Whao o_O where did you get this news from? Source please!

Oh man Plob...sorry to hear about your horrid experience with Wavesecure :(

You might want to uninstall and reinstall the app again and see if that works.

I have owned this app since they came out and issues the free Beta, and it DID work get.. worked as designed and never interrupted my normal phone usage.. that was UNTIL McAfee bought them. Since then, the scheduled backup that is suppose to happen when you plug your phone in comes on whenever it pleases and 'locks' the phone up to where almost nothing else will run while this process is running.. Before it would run the back up program every night when I plugged it into my charger and during that back up, the phone was still usable.

I hate to point fingers, but I honestly believe that McAfee buying this app was the worse thing that could happen. I am currently looking for an alternative program and will be uninstalling this one.

Wow...never did liked McAfee :/ I always get mixed feelings when your independent app gets bought out by a big company. The only app I can think that's 'to par' with Wavesecure is Lookout mobile but I never thought it was as good as Wavesecure.
