Any new Verizon Androids before January?

I'm beginning to think any rumors of the HTC Passion...or anything else new...for Verizon before January are probably just that...rumors. VZW likes to hype things for awhile like they did the Droid and the Storm 2, and there has been none of that.

Any other thoughts on that before I go back to a new BlackBerry? I can't wait until 2010 for a new Android and I've returned the Droid and Eris for problems (mostly the small font issues and media transfer problems with a Mac).

When I was researching the Droids at VZW stores about 2 wks ago, one lady worker told me "there will be 2 more Droid phones released this year." We already covered the reliability/knowledge of these workers (most of the time, not very reliable/knowledgable), but I figured this would be a thread worth mentioning it in. Take it FWIW...

I have til Jan 13th to exchange my Eris. If nothing great comes along by then or in the forseeable future, I'll be very happy keeping the Eris.

I'll take that as probably one more "new" one as most of the Verizon reps are confusing the Droids they'll be receiving after the Dec. 11 OS update as a new one. Also...the reps here refuse to say anything and there's nothing in any of the pundit blogs, either. To get me to buy again, it's going to have to have the form factor of an HTC with just Android 2.0 on it...not the Sense UI. That's cool, but it makes the 2.0 OS NON-updatable to 2.x.

I looked this...but wonder if Verizon will pick it up since it appears they can't emblazon it with all their usual crap.

LOL Only time will tell. I'm pretty set on the Droid. I've looked at all the rumored phones and haven't been very impressed. I just fear that something *amazing* will come out 2 weeks and 1 day after I buy the Droid. :p I think they like to keep us hanging because they know that some, after using their new every two, will pay full price for a *better* phone.

Those are days of the past, if you like the both Motorola Droid and the Droid Eris none have the usual Verizon Wireless, VCast, VZNavigator and all the other crap that is on 90% of other phones.

Anyway December will bring us the Motorola Calgary, which is a "LITE" version of the Droid with the only "improvement" being the physical keyboard.

There are 2 other Android phones that are rumored for 4th quarter (December) but the manufacturers are not ready with the device yet.

HTC Passion was set to release December 6th but HTC again was not ready to release the phone so it might possibly be out in January 2010 along with the LG Eve (LG's Android phone)

Get the Droid, something "better" will always be coming out, but the droid will not become obsolete any time soon, it's a very powerful unit and Verizon will not let the $200,000,000 A DAY in advertisement for the Droid go to waste anytime soon.

Any "transfer problems with mac" and small font issues will exist with a new Android phone or not. A new Android phone will not fix compatibility issues nor give you bigger font. Check the Market for a Font app.

im stuck -- i returned my blackberry for a droid eris because i love the android OS... however for every positive thing the eris does, it seems there's a negative also (in terms of bugs, etc).. i have until Jan. 13th or whatnot to return it and exchange for another phone - im just wondering, what do you guys ultimately think, MOTO DROID OR HTC DROID ERIS? are they both experiencing the same amount of bugs? whats the positives and negatives of each? im really lookin for some insight here...

thanks.

Motorola Droid is running on 2.01 which is a better more stable OS than 1.5 which the Eris runs on.

Moto Droid packs a bit more power and it's provides faster web browsing

Moto Droid allows multiple G-Mail accounts, Eris doesn't.

Moto Droid comes with 16GB memory, Eris with 8.

Go for the Motorola Droid...

okay but...

eris will be getting 2.x update in the near future

8gb is fine with me - why would i need 16 gigs? i can buy that

packs a bit more power? "a bit"?

why do i want more than one g-mail account?

i heard htc's eris has a better touch screen for typing (i dont want to have to use the slider)

and.. to top it off - the moto droid is ugly as sin.

anyone favor the eris over the moto droid? i want to get both perspectives before i make any moves.

thanks.

Eris runs on a 528mhz processor, Motorola on 550mhz processor.
The touch screen is exactly the same, they have the same keyboard and it feels exactly the same when texting on the screen...droid if anything is easier because of the bigger screen.

If the motorola droid is ugly then get the eris, case closed. doesn't matter how many features a phone has if it's ugly to you you will not be satisfied. Or wait for another phone, if you are really this confused then wait for something that will make your decision easier.

i only have until the 13th of january to make a decision, and the one thing i DO NOT want to do is be stuck with a phone simply because it looks pretty. looks are definitely not everything. if the moto droid is THAT MUCH better than the eris will ever be, i better go back to verizon with box in hand. ;(

thanks for your input btw, appreciated.

Wait until January 10th at least, 4th quarter is not over yet and Verizon is not done releasing phones this quarter.

Hmm, so January 10th? Is that date significant?

Also, can you say ANYTHING about the HTC Incredible? ANYTHING?

There is NOTHING coming out on January 10th, but there are a few phones coming out before then. Reason why I said the 10th is because it's 3 days before you have to give your phone back.

As far as I know Incredible is the same as the Passion, I will talk to our HTC rep on Tuesday and see what he says about it.

Motorola Calgary, LG Eve (both Android Phones) and Palm Pre SHOULD be released before January 10th.

Apple is also due to release a phone and a tablet PC with Verizon in 2010 but dates are unconfirmed. It is confirmed that they already have a working prototype of the Apple device but dates are all unconfirmed.

I have no specifics about other phones but will get back to you guys as soon as I find out more from the Reps of HTC, Motorola, Samsung, LG.

htc incredible? hmm.. thats new to me. are you suggesting that it might possibly be released before january 10th or did i misunderstand you when u said "there are a few phones coming out before then".

it would be somewhat of a miracle to have another verizon android phone come out before the holiday return deadline in my eyes. im sttill up in the air with the decision between the droid or the eris, however if nothing happens, im afraid ill stick with the eris because of the new OS coming out. any further info would be well appreciated.

It is not known yet when HTC will release a new phone for Verizon, they have one or two already made by they have kept it a secret.
