Losing faith in app developers...WidgetLocker/Beautiful Widgets

First, Beautiful Widgets imploded with the 3.0 update, dev finally got his act together and it's been fine for several days, now there's an update and I'm afraid to install it ... not to mention the hassle with reconfiguration.

Now, WidgetLocker also has an update but it forces those annoying weather animations to appear when you unlock, regardless of how you have the setting toggled. Nice!

Thank goodness for ASTRO's backup utility...

I realize development is hard, it's way beyond anything I could ever do, and I know we don't pay a lot for these apps, but at this rate, I'm having a hard time seeing the value for the few $ I've shelled out if the updates keep breaking things.

Working fine now. Shame he defaulted this to ON.

BW is working fine too, for now. Waiting for the clock to start screwing up.

yeah, this is not a FORCE, this is an OPTION. if you check Disable, then they go away. Widgetlocker is an amazing product. and well worth it.

No doubt, makes sense, but it should be an OPTION and not defaulted to ON, IMHO...

while i agree, i found out about the animations in the Update Notes when i upgraded the app, and went in right away, because it was something i did not want, and disabled it.

Good Lord, if you don't want it on, turn it off, but please stop whining about having to click an off button. The majority of users actually like the animations. If the default was set to "off" I doubt someone would start a thread to complain about it. They would just turn it on and be a happy camper...so do us a favor and just hit the off button and become a happy camper too

Yeah the 3.0 update bombed hard. While the first fix did get the clock to stop locked the local temp was all screwed up. It was 60 degrees outside yet BW said it was 95*. Looks like the latest update fixed this issue too. I think he is a good Dev though. You can't always release a 100% perfect app. As long as he is working to fix the issues (which he has been) I'm fine with it.

I wonder how annoyed the dev is with all these nit picky complaints. The app is awesome and there are few devs that work that hard to create a good product

My sentiments exactly...more props and less complaints!!! I love that the developer added the weather animations and it's set to default to showcase it as a new feature!

I had the same issue in both Widgetlocker and Lockbot Pro but fixed it by disabling "Unlock animations" in Beautiful Widgets "Smaller Home".. Haven't had the problem since.

The developers of BOTH of these programs are very quick to patch bugs that users report and there are THOUSANDS of people who are happy with both of these products AND their development. In fact, I wish MORE developers were like the developers of these two apps.

Don't like the app, it's features, or the way it's being developed? Don't use it. It's really easy to delete an app from your phone.

are you serious? I don't consider it a bad business practice to enable a certain setting as default, and allow the user to change it. And it's not like we have to pay more money for these updates.. we get them for free because we already paid for the app.

Most devs who care about their apps are quick or try to be even supplying updates when they can't be quick which is great.

This post wasn't just about only these two apps. I believe OP was using them as an example of his latest frustrations. So he's skorned and pretty much shamed for sharing his opinion on something that's bugging him? Yep the OP MUST be horrible and an abomination to the android community. He must delete his apps and any other household items he deems to be not working because you know... it's easy to have a yard sale.

OP ur fine, and you have just as much right as the nay sayers although they'll probably disagree with that too.
I'm done with this post. This community is really in the crapper since the Froyo hullabaloo.

Froyo includes a new bug reporting feature so that Dev's will recieve freeze and crash reports (available via their Android Market publisher accounts). Right now Dev's are dependant on reports from users to debug.

Needless to say, this is huge. Here is what it looks like:

Few things I try to rem...
1.my choice to install app, up to me to ck read me or change log
2.Stock less probs vs customized more potential probs
3.app free or cost minimal
4.free apps are usually by individual not corp. with resourses
5.free apps made in spare time, devs usually have other full time jobs
6.devs cannot guess/see all possible configs of phones
7.google (hands off) vs apple (death grip), for os and apps
8.better apps have fast update to reported bugs
9.I look at updates as dev being pro-active, not buggy apps
10. features are usually due to popular demand

Maybe because many people experienced a bug where settings didn't save? Therefore you couldn't really turn it off?

But hey, keep bitching about people bitching. Whatever gets you off.
