So, here I am with a rooted phone running Darch 2.7. The phone was running like it had never run before. Then, a few days ago, it started to get a little slower and not responding quite as quickly as it had, plus the battery life (pre Facebook fiasco) had always sucked.

I see that 2.8 gets released and I have my reservations about flashing it.

I do it anyway after making a Nandroid of course. Well....what do you know. I can't receive text messages anymore! FAN FREAKING TASTIC! I can send them no problem, but I can't get anything. I wiped, rewiped and wiped again. I nand restored and wiped and repeated about 4 times. I did a fresh wipe and a new install just to see if that would work....nothing.

This is just dynamite. Needless to say, I'm a little peeved right now. Anybody experience anything similar?

I'm doing a nandroid back to 2.7 right now because of FC's and unexpected rebooting.

I always find it curious as to why everyones getting different results when we all mostly doing the same process with the same software.

I am wondering if its maybe the different recoveries, or what.

I am running 2.8 from 2.7, had to wipe since root was lost without wiping. I also flashed the collin_ph battery tweak over it and rolled back Facebook. BBattery life is great so far, and performance is on par with 2.7. Havent really put it under some stress yet.

Hope you get your fix man, thats a bummer.

Can this be done from Terminal on the phone?

it seems like darchdroid isn't really that stable although people claim it is. that sucks cuz i really like AOSP but i dont like to run a rom that doesn't have everything fully working.

stability is relative. my phone on fresh roms would reboot 2-3x per day, and get really hot. with darchdroid, no reboots. It does do something weird with root/superuser permissions, but that is actually easily fixable, just re-root (takes 2 minutes) or reinstall superuser permissions. other than that, darchdroid is fully functional. i'm not aware of a single thing on my phone not working. as for stability, every rom out is full of posts of users having different experiences/problems. whether it's voice mail problems, camera problems, bootloop problems, etc. even posts for non-rooted phones, it's the same thing, users all having different experiences...lag/no lag, runs better with launcherpro, runs better with sense, 12 hour battery life, 8 hour battery life, and on and on.

oh and fwiw, i flashed 2.8 over 2.7. i really have no noticeable difference in how my phone is performing. the only difference was i had to retheme. obviously a wipe could possibly change that, but i have no desire to completely resetup my phone
