2. Full screen weather app when you scroll to it sometimes says its updating the just goes blank and doesn't respond to being pressed. I have to remove/re-add the widget to get to come back. Full screen News and Bookmarks widget have done the same, but only once or twice.

Same here, I've asked the question a couple of times now and it seems no-ones come up with an answer. I would think the problems may lie at HTC's end wherever the widgets are trying to pull the updates from and causing them to hang.

Anyone else having signal problems after upgrading to 2.2?
I rooted and then installed the official 2.2 Foyo but my signal is constantly dropping to nothing at all. Very frustrating

Yes I am very strongly.
My data signal never disappears, or never seems to, but in reality I lose connection, and therefore lose push mail, auto sync of all other things, as well as gchat or nimbuzz connectivity as soon as my phone goes to sleep for something around 30 minutes....

Well after 2 days of using Froyo on my O2 branded Desire, I can make the following comments. Overall it seems pretty cool, and I'm not gonna go on about the positives - enough has been said about them already.

1) Apps2 SD is useful, although seems to be creating a few problems for some widgets

2) Scrolling through menus gets a bit jumpy at seemingly random times

3) Battery life seems to have taken a dive - although I suspect this is more due to the facebook update that installed within minutes of Froyo's install. I'm leaving it in place at the moment, but will probably downgrade facebook if battery life doesn't improve.

Automatically require OTA. Go to settings, about phone, System software updates. If it is there just follow the instructions.

Be warned though that many have have unwanted consequences. I don't think I would have done it if I had known that my mail would no longer reside on my Desire, but it would have to check the server every time I wanted to read my mail.

If I have downloaded on my PC I can no longer read the mail on my Desire. Calendar and Gmail also need hot sync connection to read what was downloaded before.

Check out all the different problems before you decide to go ahead.

I am on Vodafone uk with froyo 2.2 on a contract free sim. So is my mate oppiste me at work, but he's on 2.1.

He is on 4 bars reception, I have none.

This is appalling. When is HTC going to fix this as my phone has become almost unusable in certain areas.

Can 2.1 be reintalled? I like some features but I prefer a signal!!!

I've come across a few problems since upgrading..

1. Wifi doesn't detect my home Wifi after leaving and coming back. I have to turn wifi off/on to get it detect it.

I can confirm that this happens to me too, and I think it has to do with the sleep policy
Goto Menu / Settings / Wireless & Networks / Wi-Fi Settings
Press the menu button and select advanced then wi-fi sleep policy mine was set to 15 mins, i have changed this to never and i can go out of range come back and hey presto connected.

2. Full screen weather app when you scroll to it sometimes says its updating the just goes blank and doesn't respond to being pressed. I have to remove/re-add the widget to get to come back. Full screen News and Bookmarks widget have done the same, but only once or twice.

I selected a blank page and added the widget full page scrolled down from london to paris (updating) got weather scrolled down got yaipei (updating) got weather again for tokyo all works fine for me.

3. Messages has to force close a few times per day.

Not had this what do you mean?
My HTC Desire is flashed to unbranded/unlocked with Android 2.2

Apart from those three things I've found, so far, it feels much faster.

Mine was always set to "never"... However, change it to 15mins, then changed back to never. Will see if that help. Home and work as less then 10mins apart, so I'm not convinced the 15min time out is the problem.

Not had this what do you mean?

While in Messages is crashes. Not sure what details I need to add. I send a text, it might crash. I read a text, it might crash. Doesn't do it every time. I also deleted all text messages this arvo. Will see if that helps.

I have just downloaded the new HTC Sync 3.0 and it is reporting that my desire is
Current system firmware:2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys

However the About software information on the Desire is reporting Andriod Version 2.2

And also at the bottom
Software number :2.09.405.8

Is this NOT Froyo 2.2 then?

You are running FroYo as your phone says under Android Version. The software version refers to the HTC software on the phone (the HTC Sense), so don't worry about a thing

Anyone know if you do a factory reset if it goes back to 2.1?

Apart from being able to move apps to the sd card and the torch application (Flashlight for those Americans out there), I haven;t noticed many advantages but do seem to have more glitches and things than I did with 2.1.

Serves me right for installing 2.2 too early! Leading edge, not bleeding edge!

As soon as I updated to FroYo 2.2 I have noticed an annoying problem with the data connection...

It seems to have reset the settings for some reason, it just does not want to receive any data over the data network! I make the mobile data connection available and the H symbol appears and the upload arrow seems to be going strong but nothin on the download! I have tried allsorts from resetting to factory settings, to changing the settings for mobile internet and MMS but still the same problem - The data connection just wont work, which means I cannot browse the net using it also cannot send or receive MMS messages, I cant understand it!

I am on O2 network, it worked flawlessly on Android 2.1 and since Ive paid the extra for the unlimited data usage I`m a bit frustrated!

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Thanks

Factory Reset does squat to the 2.2 update, it seems once your upgraded your stuck with it regardless :(

Thanks:(

One problem on my HTC Desire (sim free) under 2.2 is that when I move the phone from vertical to horizontal (or vice versa)- the screen takes longer to move from portrait to landscape and back again than it did under 2.1.

It became so irritating that I decided to use the calibrate option under settings.
BIG mistake, now some of the screens are stuck in landscape mode, irrespective of how much I turn the phone round. I've turned the phone on and off but the problem is still there.
>> Ok, calibration problem sorted (mostly) when it says "put the phone on a level surface", it does not mean standing up propped against a wall or something. It means laying flat so that the screen is pointing up towards the sky!

Come back 2.1- all is forgiven. Google/HTC you have totally undermined how much I loved my Desire!

(I wouldn't mind but I haven't even noticed an improvement on the battery life with 2.2. I carry around a spare battery and typically use 2 batteries in one day. And that's with the phone being in airplane mode much of the time, data sync turned off, wifi turned off etc).

Yes that sounds like exactly the same issue as mine.
Only mine works on and off....
and doesn't seem to be a network issue as it is at exactly the same place while it happens.

Ok small update for you...

I was messing around and thought to change the "Network Mode" under "Mobile Network Settings" ... ever since I got the phone it has been left on 'GSM/WCDMA auto' and worked fine until I updated to 2.2.. now I get nothing, I decided to see what would happen if I changed this to 'GSM only' which only supports 2g and it works fine coming up with the G (GPRS/2g) symbol, but as soon as I switch back to try and use HSDPA nothing! Its like I`m being stopped from receiving data downstream but the upstream is trying its best!

Theres only 3 things I can possibly think of that is 'could' be..

1. I did receive a new SIM card from O2 before the 2.2 update so that may have something to do with it.

2. The HSDPA Network in my area is down or playing up.

3. The Froyo update has caused it (it only started after this)

I guess my next step will be to contact O2 and HTC support to see what non response I get...

Will keep you updated incase anyone else is having same problem

---UPDATE---

I decided to try something else, I used to have an iphone before the HTC Desire, I took out my SIM and popped it back into the iphone and used the same Data Connection settings as on the desire, EDGE worked as GPRS did on the Desire, but I get the same problem on the iphone as I do on the Desire with 3G/HSDPA! ... This has narrowed it down in my opinion, it must be a HSDPA Network issue somewhere or something at O2s end of the equation, the new SIM card thing is sitting in the back of my mind now! On to O2! ... HASSLE!
