If you use launcher pro you can hide them from your app drawer. I forget where the setting is, but if you go to launcher.com it is explained for the latest update

What is the best way to add custom icons to Launcher Pro's dock?
When I select change icon / custom icon....it takes me to my gallery. Am I able to use Bettercut and it's icon packs to put custom icons on the Launcher Pro dock?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that. Just select "change shortcut" and select a bettercut shortcut. Unless you have to use icon packs, though, this isn't the best way to do it. Be aware that you won't be able to use dock notifications this way. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, and you are able to use icon packs directly.
does anyone know where i could get more icons that looks like those simple white text ones. (i forgot who posted them and im too lazy too check) if you don't know what im talking about, ill find the image. for the phone icon its just white text that says "call" i need them for more apps though, cause there were only 5.

I forget if you can use better cut or not for the dock. I use folder organizer lite (its free) it works with any of the better cut or other icon packs found in the market. check the first post of this thread for a tutorial on using folder organizer.
oh, when adding to the dock don't select apllication. pick folder organizer item. or bettercut if that's an option.
and to correct myself from earlier its launcherpro.com but you probably figured that out already.

I'm not positive but I don't think notifications work when you use better cut or folder organizer. and that goes for custom icons or icon pack. I don't see it as a big deal tho.
Edit: Nevermind, found my answer. Search didn't bring anything up, but going back a couple pages did.
I've used ADW before, but decided to switch to Launcher Pro now. However, I'm running into a problem. For some reason or another I can't get the box to popup to allow me to set Launcher Pro as my default.
I tried downloading Home Switcher, and while that allows me to switch to Launcher Pro, the "Set as Default" never sticks, and whenever I press the home key, my phone returns to the stock sense home.

Are you running Android 2.2? It doesn't support selecting a default launcher with Home Switcher. Go to the application manager in settings, open HTC Sense (or whatever launcher is currently default), scroll to "Launch by Default" section, and click "Clear defaults". When press the home button, you will then be prompted for what launcher to use. Remember to select the "default" box first.
