Help Home button broken?

yeah i have had the same problem with the home button ever since i got it a couple weeks ago. what i found out about mine was this; i just have to press a little bit harder or hold the chin when i press it and it works amazingly. but yea just by 'tapping' it, it doesn't work for me either 90% of the time.

Just a separate question though, when u did return it, did you return JUST the phone or everything including the box it came with? reason i ask is that i have everything scattered all over the place lol and im thinking about returning mine. thanks.

Had a similar problem: http://androidforums.com/samsung-vibrant/133917-menu-button-not-responding-all-time.html

Update since then. I drained the battery to under 10%. Turned the phone off, recharged it until it was full. Played Avatar with wifi, gps, bluetooth, screen max brightness, max sound, and etc; trying to drain the battery again. Now after touching it again, while sitting on my dock(which is one of the problems I had), it now works fine. Hopefully, it stays this way.

Yep that is EXACTLY my problem. I'm not accepting that on a $500 phone. It brought me to the point of an anxiety attack having to strange the phone to go home (ok, I'm exaggerating...)

Bring it in for exchange (I actually un-exchanged and got my original phone back since everything but GPS worked perfectly).

You at least need the box, but not the accessories (they'll just transfer those). The box is necessary since it has all sorts of information on it (e.g. S/N)

My original phone doesn't have the issue at all (all buttons, including the home key, have equal sensitivity)... Perhaps it's an issue with the new SuperAMOLED display?

My local store at least exchanged it after agreeing it wasn't acceptable.

I had the home button problem where it would not work either. It was an intermitant problem for a day then stopped working all together. Tried the factory reset, draining the battery and all and nothing. Sent phone back and I did need to send all accessories back as well. Better not happen to my new one!

Someone that thinks their button works try this.
Gently tap the applications button, then the home, then apps then home. It should work.
Then tap the apps. Wait for the buttons to go black, and gently tap the home again. It won't work. Mine at least. Curious to see if this is a common thing people just don't replicate.

My current Vibrant (my original, which I un-exchanged) works perfect, aside from the unusable GPS. No issues with touch sensitivity (if anything it's almost too sensitive). My exchange phone required me to squish the home button.

I've had this phone for 3 days and notice the home button was working intermittently when I tap it. I just realized when it doesn't work with a tap. I just have to press on it hard and it works every time. So i am guessing the touch sensor on my home button is probably just faulty but still works so good enough for me. Can't expect too much for a free phone.

I'm having the same problem with my home and back buttons working intermittently. It seems to be aggravated by the cold weather. So it being winter, those 2 buttons don't work 90% of the time.

I love the phone but this is driving me crazy. Is anyone else still having this problem? Has anyone figured out if it's a hardware issue or software issue?
