FroYo 2.2 for Legend

Hey all,

Mark Moons [the HTC guy who broke the news that the Desire will get FroYo last week, albeit with slightly incorrect dates!] has put a new msg up on this Twitter regarding the Legend...

Hoor goede berichten. Gebruik zelf HTC Legend, dus ik moet nog even geduld hebben...

Well to answer my own question, a Dutch user translates to:

"He says he uses a htc legend and he hears good news..but we will have to have patient"

Not the news we were hoping for then...

Well at least thats something for the HTC Legend hopefully by the end of this quarter we can have Froyo on our devices!

ANDROID 2.2 ON HTC LEGEND

Not sure how HTC will be notified of it.
Perhaps we can all send a HTC an email/ticket with a link to it .

HTC has already stated the Legend is getting Froyo, and there is no point rushing them to get a broken version out. It's ready when it's ready.

As I understand it - Legend users (myself included) have to give HTC some time. HTC is running its Sense software - so they have to make sure the 2.2 Froyo (is it just me or is this a very odd name) runs smoothly and correctly with the HTC Sense.

Remember its not running stock 2.1 OS - its running HTC Sense.

Clearly desire and Legend run different hardware, different CPU different Kernel. It's not just slapping it all together and it works, there quite some work to so.

If it were a case of taking the binaries onto a Legend, the firmware hackers would have achieved Froyo on legend ages ago.

hTC stated that Desire, Legend and Wildfire will be upgraded on Q3. Desire users already got the update but hTC haven't told absolutely nothing about us, and I remember a twitter from hTC singapore that said it will not be possible to port froyo on Legend (it was soon removed but doesn't mean it was not true). The petition is not made to hurry them, just to let they know we are waiting for it and how many we are. Remember that Hero users waited a year for eclair, and it was 'confirmed' months before. I do not think it requires a year to port eclair on Hero, probably they was just too busy doing other things.

Let's wait and see what happens, maybe they're already planning to do the update soon. If not, we'll notify them but with a considerable number of signs (I think 90 are few), however they'll find it themselves sooner or later, it is posted here and on xda forums

legend has msm7227 and wildfire msm7225, I don't know if they're the same with different clocks however probably they will be upgraded more or less together. I just don't want to get froyo as a christmas gift

I don' think its relating to FroYo, I would guess its him just saying the Legend is well made, i.e. great engineering....

Chill out!
It'll come when it comes. You've waited this long, why can't you wait that extra bit longer?
And anyway - most are quite unhappy with FroYo (including myself) so you shouldn't be as enthusiastic to get the update cause I'm sure hTC are fixing the flaws in the Desire's version or at least provide Legend users with a much more stable version of it.

They confirmed eclair on hero months before releasing it, so I think it's better being preparated. I'd just like to have it within september-october and not as a christmas gift as I already told

I also emailed them and asked them to stop bothering to include PDFReader in the firmware, it takes up space and is pointless now there is a proper Acrobat Reader on the store.

will it be worth the wait? will it speed things up on my voda branded legend

will it be able to do hd video recording?

will it solve my wifi conectivity issues?


just wondering if it reallys is worth the wait.

I choose legend over the desire (with 2.2 on it) because i love the design and though i would be happy to sacrifice the speed gains etc as i was told legend would be getting 2.2.

I am now staring to wonder if i made the right choice as i find the legend frustratingly slow at times.
