Hi All. Is there such a thing as a portable battery pack for the DInc? I was thinking it might be better to buy a pack that can be wall charged that I could carry around. Then, if I need to I could plug the USB right into that wherever I happen to be.

Is that something I could find? Are there compatable after market solutions?

Thanks,

That's great, thanks. I read through the description and am still a bit confused about something.

Does it actually charge the phone battery or is it just an "external" battery to use temporarily?

How long does it hold a charge?

Does it have the capacity to charge a phone multiple times or to charge multiple phones on its own single charge?

I have a 2000mAh I keep around for emergencies. It's was only $15 at a local big box store. All these batteries do is simulate you plugging your phone into a computer. 500mA of charging current. It's not much, and half as fast as the OEM charger. But it will do to keep your phone running and even charge it up quite a bit if you don't mess with it too much.

I picked up one of these with a 50% off code.. (Just enter their iPad giveaway for a chance at a 1/2 off code):

ZAGG | ZAGGsparq 2.0 | 4 full iPhone charges, Charges the iPad with an additional 5-6 hours of video, mobile battery, device charger, cellphone charger, portable battery pack, 6000 mAh lithium polymer battery, USB x2 at 1000 mAh output, AC 100-240 v/

Use it with my wife's nook a lot as well as my phone..

Do you think it is really 6000mAh? I mean like once you fully charge the ZAGGsparq can you charge your 1300mAh battery multiple times? (supposedly 4times)

The best one I've found (I've tried six or seven) is the Tekkeon MP1550 charger which I bought from Amazon.

It works with 4 NiMH, Lithium, or Alkaline AA's and can charge the phone from 0-100% twice with a single charge of my 4 Sanyo Eneloop AA's. Stays very cool and works fantastic. Plus, it's much better for an emergency than the rechargable lithium ion packs as it works with any AA's you'll have laying around.

the zagg looks intriguing (only at 50% off) though perhaps a bit large and heavy. i opted for the xp4001 and it has worked well so far. it has the additional flexibility of different tips so non usb devices can be charged. if you're going to get a charger, i'd suggest getting something that outputs at least 1A. 500ma will be rather slow.

XP4001 seems expensive compared to zaggsparq with 50%
Thanks for the advise though

There's a certain loss to charging batteries. I think Li-Ion chemistry is around a 1.3:1 ratio. So, for every 1000mAh that the battery takes in, you need to run 1300mAh through it. The extra energy is lost as heat.
