Root Lost my ClockworkMod. Need help.

So I had froyo for about 1 or 2 months now. I updated to the latest build Release: Sapphire 1.0.0 DROID Froyo | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog


Anyway, I install it and it goes fine but I didn't do a data wipe and the animations were pretty sluggish. So i reflash and do a wipe the next time. Goes perfect but now I have no contacts or calender and noway to sync up for some reason. So i restore to my old rom and go to download the new froyo build again-- i think this is where I went wrong. So when I go to install the newest froyo rom again, the phone rebooted and is stuck on the motorola logo boot up screen same with when I hold X and Power button. I don't know what to do from this point. I can no longer get to the recovery screen. any ideas???

Pull the battery and wait and see if it works. If not, head over to this post and restore it using RSDLite and an SBF (you will effectively be starting with a virgin ROM, so you'll need to reinstall everything.

yea that didn't work. So anyway, I downloaded the 3 files needed to get back to stock. I am going to go back to 2.0.1. Now step 2 says to install RSDlite. Do i install this on the phone or on the computer? When I try and install RSDlite on my computer it says windows can't open this file, would I like windows to find it? Sooo I'm confused. I am using Windows 7..

If you unplug your phone while doing this it will break it beyond repair, Verizon will not be able to fix it. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO USE IT!

Here is a guide.
Requirements
A. A stock sbf file
2.0 VZW_A855_ESD20_QSC6085BP_C_01.3B.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf
2.0.1 VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03. sbf
2.1 VZW_A855_ESE81_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.03P_SW_UPDATE_02. sbf

B. http://androidoverdrive.com/downloads/RSDLite4.6.7z (RSDLite 4.6)

C. Current Motorola Drivers

Make sure you download the correct drivers for your system either 32bit or 64bit

Instructions:
1. Download all of the files above including the 32-bit OR 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers.
2. Install RSDLite AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)
3. Connect your phone to USB and turn it off then turn it back on, while your phone is booting hold up on the DPAD. (Some users have said it is easier to hold the volume down button and camera button instead.)
4. Run RSD Lite 4.6 as Administrator (For all you Vista and 7 folks out there. If you are using XP you may not need to run as Administrator)
5. Click the ... next to the filename box and browse to where you saved the .sbf file and double click the .sbf file.
6. Hit start and below it should give you completion progress and all of that.
7. Once your phone is done being flashed (It may take a while so don't unplug it) it will reboot and you will be back at stock 2.0.1 no root.
8. Done

if clockworkMD failed, could you have not used ROM Manager to flash SPRecovery and either then (1) reflashed clockworkMD or (2) booted into SPRecovery

on my phone I clicked on "Boot in recovery" and it just sat in the motorola logo. Is that what you mean?

or do you mean actually click on "flash clockworkmod recovery"
When I did this it says "successfully flashed clockworkmod recovery. "

If your phone boots normal and you are able to use clockwork see the below thread to fix your problem.

did you install the motorola drivers prior to trying to install RSDlite? This caused a similar issue for me initially.

yes that seems to be my problem^^ from the description they give.

Can I just click on "Flash alternate recovery" through on Rom manager? or will that mess something else up. ? Won't that be the same thing has flashing a different recovery?

no I didn't. it says to install rsd first. I also put all the files in a folder to be organized. I hear this may be the problem?

ok well I answered my own question. I chose " flash alternate recovery" and it worked, I'm in sprcovery. now what to I do!!!!!

nevermind for now... I just rebooted after sprcovery and then went back into rom manager, selected clocks and flashed that and now I got my clocksworks recovery back. Thank god.

I understand that you're frustrated and trying to get this working, but reading CAREFULLY would help your situation a lot.

from the post I told you to read:

Install RSDLite AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)

Last I checked, there is no 64bit phone - and that would thus indicate that you're to install this on your computer.

Anyway, now that you've got it working, good luck with the rest of it.

nevermind for now... I just rebooted after sprcovery and then went back into rom manager, selected clocks and flashed that and now I got my clocksworks recovery back. Thank god.
