Droid X wins another battle.

I believe when comparing two devices, one should actually have the devices to compare them side by side. Also, you should get each phones specs correctly if that's what you are going to base your review on. At least he didn't turn off the comments. Needless to say, one of the worst reviews I've read.

edit:
I just found out this is the same person that did the comparison between the iphone 4, the captivate and the Evo 4g. I Wouldn't have read it had I known.

for comparison purposes here's his review between the droid X and the iphone 4.

Couple things I'd like to point out. I owned the X for 15 days and thought it was awesome. I did eventually return it and kept the Vibrant on Tmobile, so I think I've probably got more experience then that reviewer, and neither of us know the whole deal because the Fascinate isn't even out yet lol..

First his screen review, Sorry but the blue tint thing is incorrect. I picked up 2 Vibrants (one for me, one for my wife). One had the blue screen issue but was quickly replaced without hassle. In person in bright sun the Vibrant was actually more readable then the X, especially if what I was trying to read was against a black background as the Vibrant seems to have quite a bit less glare.

The hotspot thing is lame, seriously.. Who is going to pay extra for that, when there is so many wifi tether options out there?

Having used the camera on both I'd say it's closer to a tie.. MP isn't everything and the Samsung has some pretty cool shooting modes that the X lacks (like beauty ;)). As for the flash, it makes a great flashlight but sucks for pics at night, the Vibrant takes better night pics to me. No clue how the Fascinate camera will compare since it doeshave a flash.

I'll agree on the storage thing, No idea why Verion gimped it the way they did since the Vibrant and the Captivate both have 16GB of internal storage. Could be worse tho, the Sprint version only has 1GB lol.

Overall I don't think there is a clear winner. They aren't easily compared if you ask me. I'd say spend time with both and then make your choice, that's what I did.

Krichek, how was the GPS accuracy on the Vibrant?

I think the Fascinate will be a better phone, but I'll buy the X if I can't use apps like mytrax, etc properly with the Fascinate.

I keep meaning to download that, I'm going biking tomorrow so I'll take it with me and post back ok?

But in driving both mine and my wifes seem to be at least as accurate as our old original Droids. If I download the Sat Test app in the market I see what everyone is complaining about but in real world use, it seems fine to me. Or at least that has been my experience so far.

played with it plenty. The review is fairly accurate. The screen absolutely has a blue tint to it. I like the Captivate quite alot, it's size and screen are nice, but I would not trade my X for it. I am also not a gamer so the processor would not matter to me. Tethering for business is a major factor for both of us, the X blows the Samsung away in this regard. He has finally found a way to tether through you tube, but it took alot of screwing around. ATT and Samsung were of NO help in this matter. I like my X more every day. I think I am going to keep it.:)

If it has a blue tint he should get a replacement. It shouldn't have one.

Not sure why he had so many problems with wifi tethering. Barnacle in the market or this apk work just great. wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre4.apk - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre4 *** EXPERIMENTAL ** - Project Hosting on Google Code=

Hey chemist just thought I would get back to you. I downloaded "My Tracks" from the market and tested it out. Little background, I live out in the country, surrounded by orchards so this time of year on some of the more back roads trees can really be an issue.

Anyway I needed to run to the store so I turned my tracks on, adjusted the minimum accuracy to 66ft from the default of 656ft (wow!), turned the announcement on so I would know if I lost an accurate fix and headed out. I made a point of taking the long way there using mostly rural/residential roads. Total trip length was just shy of 13miles reviewed it on the map and everything appeared fine.

On my way back I set the accuracy to its lowest setting 33ft and took a different route, that was still smaller roads as well as one road that doesn't appear on the map. My tracks again never issued a warning about losing an accurate position and when I returned home, looking over the maps it appeared to be spot on with the route I had taken.

Hope the additional info helps. I still plan to use it tomorrow when I go biking as I really like how it will call out total distance/time and average speed so thanks for the heeads up on a great app!

I agree. This "review" is a crock of shit. It looks like the writer just took the specs of both devices and compared them.

The DX wins on Connectivity just because of the $20 wifi option? Ha! What a joke.

And what about the screen? I love my DX, but the Galaxy S is supposed to have a pretty nice screen. I honestly think 4.0" is the sweet spot for screen size. This should've at least been a tie.

Just because the DX has an 8 MP dual LED flash camera, it beats a 5 MP single LED flash camera? I want to see some example shots. The DX has a nice camera, but I'm not convinced it wins outright.

The DX is a nice piece of kit, but so is the Fascinate.

Well I finally got a chance to play with a captivate today at an at&t store and came away a little disappointed. IMO super amoled isn't what it's cracked up to be. Yeah the blacks might be deep, but it over saturates just as bad as the regular amoled with reds being too red and greens being too green for example. Also it was pretty pixelated overall which made text impossible to read zoomed out.
IMO this is no match for the Droid's X screen plain and simple. With that said I'll totally choose it over the iphone 4 any day of the week.

The rest of the phone was the usual android we're all familiar with except for the touchwiz skin. Personally I don't care for it as it seemed to slow things down a bit. Just navigating around the menus was not as snappy like with the other phones in this category. The first thing I'd do is install launcher pro or adw. I'm sure with a different launcher it will be quicker.

The rest was more of the usual. All in all it's a nice phone but amoled has a ways to go IMO.
