all my probs in one thread!

hi all
i have a load of problems with my hero (on orange)that i bought off ebay and i put some in different threads but i thought it better to put them in one thread instead of clogging up the board with minor probs.

1) my AOL email acount was working great untill last night when emails stopped coming through. i deleted the account and added it again but still no joy.

2) i need to update to 2.1 but my phone cant find HTC sync on my vista laptop

3) is it possible to turn off predictive text on text messages on the phone keypad setting permenantly?

4) again on my text messgaes they have started going out of sent/recieved order. can i set this again?

5) when i log into facebook or ebay it either logs me in then logs me out when i try to go on next page or it just says my password/username is incorrect

6) aggghh i have more but i suppose i need to sort these 1st!

im starting to think i should have got an iphone as loads of my mates have them and seem to have no problems.
although everything i do i seem to have problems so if i did get an iphone it probably explode or somthing!

hopefully someone with a bit of patience can help and sort these problems out.

1) sorted - did the remove battery and reconect while usb plugged in and it connected to htc sync and went through email options to configure it
2) part sorted - as above connected to htc sync now but not sure of next step

1) First, I'd make sure everything's working at AOL's end. You could check their support pages, or even try connecting to the account from your PC (via POP/IMAP, whichever your phone is trying to use).

2) HTC Sync isn't involved in the process, all 2.1 firmware updates are delivered OTA (Over-The-Air), direct to the phone. You will need to be running this 1.5 firmware in order to recieve the updates howver. Check your build number (In settings > About Phone) to see what you're on at the moment.

3) Settings > Language and Keyboard > Touch Input Settings >Text Input > De-tick predictive text on QWERTY/Compact QWERTY/Phone Keypad.

4) Out of order how exacly? Are the timestamps on each message correct?

5) Not sure on this one. Have you messed with the browsers cookie settings?

1)emails are back workng again!

2)i was told i need to connect to htc sync to back up my apps becuase the update will delete everything then i could update?

With regards to item 2 you do not need to back up to your PC. Instead you can back up to your SD card, which will not get touched by the upgrades. Search the market for MyBackup and download the free edition - it gives you a 30 day free trial. That should be plenty to backup, install the new version and restore.

Well, I don't know for sure but, by the sound of it you need this firmware installed before you'll get the option to download the 2.1 OTA.
