Help aria tethering

so i discovered today that when i search pdanet on my htc aria i don't get any results. so im guessing unrooted users can't use tether on their aria. has anyone found any other options?

Put your phone into airplane mode, turn on wifi and make a connection and then load the Marketplace app. You will then be able to search for apps that AT&T apparently filter out when you are connected to their network. I found several tethering apps that way.

Regards,
Tom

Thanks Tom. Can you please list a couple of the tethering apps you have successfully loaded and use on your Aria?

Thank you.

Before I rooted, I downloaded Easy Tether which allowed USB tethering, but required a corresponding Easy Tether app on the PC. It was a good solution to use in a pinch when I was traveling on the road.

Since I rooted using Unrevoked 3.1, I have downloaded Wifi-Tether and have ended up uninstalling Easy Tether because a prefer a wireless solution.

I used the method of taking out the sim and just using wifi and found easy tether in seconds.

I had no issue with it and I have never had to root it. The trick is to put the phone in airplane mode, first... then turn on WIFI, second. This will let you access the download with out having ATT deny the download. Just be sure you have a good signal in WIFI. Dropped downloads can be a pain. I am upgrading to the inspire tomorrow and I hope to do the same thing with it. Tethering makes my life so much easier, since I have unlimited internet. Which they don't even offer anymore.

OH and BTW make sure you are using a "DATA SYNC" cable and not the kind that has a different pin configuration and only lets you charge. They thought they were smart by doing that, But those of us that had to go though the whole Motorola Razer thing a few years ago got hip to that trick.

Because of tethering I think that Android will take over the market in time.
