Apple launches 'try before you buy' apps - CNN.com

They do what we have been doing for a year and a half, half ass the hell out of it, and consider it newsworthy. Awesome.

My favorite bit: "But we're fairly certain that a "try before you buy" policy might be an effective deterrent for would-be app pirates, the actions of whom have apparently cost the App Store around half a billion dollars". No, it wont. Pirates will be pirates; but good luck with that.

Continue "innovating", I suppose.

Half a billion dollars? Please. I bet they are using the same methods the RIAA used to claim it's "losses".

I would say it's newsworthy. It's a common complaint among iOS users, and now it's starting to be corrected. Correcting problems is a good thing.

I fail to see where anyone said anything about innovation. Perhaps you were just being nasty for the sake of being nasty?

Oh look, intervienent starting trouble again. Surprise. (not really)

The disdain here is the media going nuts of something Apple does thats STILL half wrong that Android, ONCE AGAIN, has been doing from the start, yet no media circus around us. That will all change though, since Android now beats iOs in terms of market share.

How am I starting trouble IOWA? A poster is angry that iOS is getting attention for a feature that Android already has, and I was pointing that out.

The article, nor myself, ever denied that Android did not have this feature first. It's a good feature for Apple to implement, and I don't see any reason why anyone get mad over it.

You missed the whole "disappointed with media thing", or completely dismissed it as you always do.

All Apple has done is find a way of reducing the number of apps in most sections, by having the one app - and then you can see if there's a Lite version afterwards.

That does make sense but is nothing like the Android way of actually letting you buy the full version and get a full refund within a certain time.

However, I would say that it's a good idea for a future version of Android Market to be changed so you can have the full and trial/lite versions 'joined' in some way.

Apple has indeed come up with a good idea, but at the same time is bound to try and make out that this is something all-new and better than the Android system which is actually better in the long run as you can try the actual app that you're going to get for your money.
